dolorosa e inesperada pero justa derrota y se quedan a 7 puntos del líder
Manchester City, que ha jugado un partido menos que el cuadro ‘red’
El fútbol es maravilloso. Que
me perdonen los más acérrimos fans del Liverpool, porque desde luego que no les
hará gracia leer esto a colación de que su equipo ha cosechado una derrota.
Pero lo es porque suceden cosas como la acontecida este miércoles. Regresaban
los de Klopp a jugar en Anfield después de que el pasado 21 de enero, la última
vez que lo habían hecho, cayesen ante el Burnley poniendo fin a 68 partidos de
Premier League actuando como locales sin perder. ¿Y qué pasó? Pues que lejos de
comenzar una nueva racha, volvieron a verse superados en el marcador. También
por 0-1 esta vez, con el Brighton de Graham Potter haciendo las veces de
verdugo y siendo Alzate, ayudado por Trossard, el autor del único tanto del
partido.
Para ser justos, cabe
puntualizar que, a diferencia de lo sucedido frente al Burnley, esta vez no se
puede hablar de milagro por el hecho de que el visitante saliera victorioso de
Anfield. El Brighton ganó y lo hizo con total merecimiento tras un encuentro en
el que, aunque con diferente estilo y sin necesitar el balón en demasía, miró a
la cara y sin ningún tipo de complejo al Liverpool.
Sin embargo, la historia del
partido pudo cambiar si Salah, habilitado por un pase largo de Henderson (esta
vez central) y con apenas dos minutos de juego disputados, hubiese estado
acertado para superar a Robert Sánchez en un mano a mano. No lo hizo, y como
quien perdona generalmente lo acaba pagando, ‘Don Fútbol’ se lo apuntó para
pasarle la cuenta más tarde.
Fue ya en la segunda mitad.
Concretamente en el 56’, cuando en una jugada rarísima, entre Alzate y
Trossard, como si de Oliver Atom y Tom Baker se tratase, firmaron un tiro
combinado con carambola que encontró la red ante un superado Kelleher. El
Liverpool había estado intentado desarbolar la defensa del Brighton de todas
las formas habidas y por haber, y el rival hizo trizas la suya sin precisar de
demasiada elaboración y con cierta fortuna de su lado. A partir de ahí y hasta
el final, el partido por momentos se rompió, pero el 0-1 en el luminoso
permaneció perenne hasta el pitido final.
No ha marcado todavía el
Liverpool en Anfield en este 2021 y con esta derrota se le pone cuesta arriba
lo de revalidar la Premier League. El Manchester City, con un partido jugado
menos, ya le saca 7 puntos de ventaja. Si el próximo domingo, cuando los de
Guardiola visitan Anfield, caen derrotados los de Klopp, el Liverpool quedará
virtualmente descartado de la lucha por el título.
