Para bien y para mal, el Leeds
United de Marcelo Bielsa es un equipo con identidad propia. Más que reconocible
incluso aunque te pusieras a ver un partido suyo sin conocer a los jugadores y
portando camisetas blancas y sin escudo. Pero como decía, lo es para bien y
para mal, y ni mucho menos sus buenas intenciones se ven siempre reflejadas en
un marcador beneficioso. Por ejemplo, no lo hicieron este miércoles cuando cayó
derrotado (1-2) ante un Everton de Ancelotti también muy ‘made in Carletto’. El
cuadro ‘toffee’ supo castigar a un
Leeds mejorable en defensa y con goles de Sigurdsson y Calvert-Lewin se llevó
los tres puntos de su visita a Elland Road. Marcó a posteriori Raphinha para el

Ni 10 minutos de juego se
habían completado cuando el Everton asestó el primer golpe. Tras una de sus
innumerables galopadas por banda izquierda, Digne alcanzó la línea de fondo y
desde allí centró para que Sigurdsson, que llegaba desde atrás, rematase del
punto de penalti a la red. El servicio del francés fue medio gol, confirmando

Despertó el Leeds con ese gol
en contra, pero lejos de encontrar el premio del empate, antes de llegar al
descanso, en el 41’, se vio en doble desventaja. Fue a la salida de un córner
botada por Sigurdsson cuando la defensa de los de Bielsa permitió que Godfrey
peinase el balón en el primer palo para que Calvert-Lewin, en el segundo,
cabecease a la red.
Con ese 0-2 el Everton
encarriló el triunfo, y a pesar de que el Leeds mejoró en la segunda mitad, no
lo hizo lo suficiente como para evitar ser derrotado. Marcó nada más empezar la
segunda mitad Raphinha aprovechándose de una indecisión de Yerry Mina y Holgate
a la hora de despejar el balón de su área, pero lo que apuntaba a ser una
reacción fructífera se quedó en eso, en un 1-2 estéril para el Leeds.
El Everton llegaba a este
duelo tras empatar con el Leicester y encajar una inesperada y dolorosa derrota
frente al Newcastle, pero supo hacer de tripas corazón para volver a ganar y
continuar su lucha por clasificarse para competiciones europeas.
