Mikel Arteta parece haber dado
definitivamente con la tecla y el Arsenal empezó 2021 prolongando las buenas
sensaciones con que despidió 2020. De hecho, tras ganar hoy al West Bromwich
Albion con un contundente 0-4, es el único equipo de la Premier que ha sumado
los 9 puntos en el maratón navideño ya que venía de derrotar también a Chelsea
(3-1) y Brighton (0-1).
Saka y Smith Rowe, la juventud
al poder
Una racha que aleja las
críticas hacia Arteta y permite al Arsenal, que asciende al 11º lugar, poner
fin a una crisis histórica de resultados. El técnico vasco volvió a confiar en
la mediapunta en la juventud de Bukayo Saka (19 años) y Emile Smith Rowe (20),
quienes, bien lanzados por Dani Ceballos y apoyados por Alexandre Lacazette y
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, fueron una pesadilla para la defensa de un West Brom
hundido en el penúltimo lugar pese a que el domingo pasado fue capaz de empatar
ante el Liverpool en Anfield (1-1).
Festival sobre la nieve
La primera parte fue un
festival ofensivo del Arsenal bajo la copiosa nieve que cayó durante todo el
partido en The Hawthorns. En los primeros minutos los ‘gunners’, enchufados

El lateral Kieron Tierney se

volvió loco a Furlong primero con un autopase y luego con un recorte y culminó
su gran acción colocando una rosca perfecta con la derecha.

Antes de la media hora llegó
el 0-2 una exquisita jugada coral que empezó Bellerín y culminó Saka a placer
por el centro al recibir una asistencia de oro de Smith Row tras una sucesión
de pases al primer toque.
Johnstone evitó la goleada
antes del descanso y, aunque el West Brom salió con renovados bríos en la
segunda parte hasta el punto de que le fue anulado un gol por fuera de juego
previo de Matheus Pereira, el Arsenal sentenció en la primera ocasión de que
dispuso.
La guinda, un doblete de
Lacazette
Fue en el minuto 61 y el autor
del 0-3 fue Lacazette a bocajarro en el tercer remate consecutivo en la misma
jugada ya que el defensa Ajayi desvió un centro contra al palo y luego rechazó
bajo palos el primer trallazo de Smith Rowe.
Lacazette cerró el marcador en
el 65’ al rematar a boca de gol con la rodilla un centro que le puso en bandeja
Tierney. El Arsenal apenas dejó que el West Brom rematara a su portería en todo
el partido y, tras el maratón navideño en la Premier, se toma un respiro antes
de afrontar el 9 de enero la eliminatoria de 1/32 de final de la FA Cupo ante
el Newcastle.
