liderato de la Premier
El United ha vivido instalado
tanto tiempo en una montaña rusa que sorprende que la Premier le dé otra
oportunidad. Aunque en esta liga tan rara todo puede pasar, hasta que el equipo
de Solskjaer se asome a la azotea. El triunfo en Old Trafford frente al
combativo Aston Villa, con un tanto de Martial y otro de Bruno Fernandes, le
permite compartir el liderato con el Liverpool, algo que hace poco sonaba a
broma o a algo utópico. Ahora nadie se ríe de esa nueva realidad (2-1).
El Aston Villa no se acartonó
pero se encontró enfrente a un United que quiere reconciliarse con su pasado.
Con aquel equipo acostumbrado a aparecer en cualquier quiniela por la liga,
ahora también candidato. Se ha reenganchado al tren de la Premier por su buen
hacer y gracias a que el Liverpool se ha dejado dos empates consecutivos, señal
de que este año nadie puede dar nada por sentado. Cada encuentro tiene su
trampa y sus dificultades.
No se le vio resacoso sino más
bien ilusionado por arrancar 2021 con buen pie. Enlazó buenas jugadas, un
remate de Martial repelido por Emi Martínez y otro desviado de Fred. Aunque no
se arrugó el Aston Villa, desperezado por más que Grealish no lograra soltarse
en Manchester. El equipo orbita alrededor del 10 pero esta vez no estuvo tan
intervencionista como en otras ocasiones, reducido por la retaguardia de un
United que ha ganado solidez.
Al cuadro de Solskjaer, sin
embargo, le desquició el planteamiento aguerrido de su rival, férreo a
domicilio. Sin embargo, una genialidad de Pogba propició un contragolpe letal
que acabó con un remate de mucho mérito de Martial, de cabeza, obligado a
agacharse para conectar con el balón: 1-0. El Villa no renunció al cuerpo a
cuerpo en Old Trafford, pero la calidad le dio a los locales un empujón frente
a un equipo que ha sorprendido por su juego y sus resultados en Inglaterra.
Grealish llamó a la puerta en
el segundo tiempo, valor añadido incontestable para plantarle cara al United.
De Gea sacó una mano de mérito a un remate de Watkins, primer aviso a un equipo
temerario. Necesitaba calma y agitó la coctelera, como si tuviera prisa, y el
Aston Villa empató a través de Traoré en un golpeo franco en el área chica a
pase de Grealish. El United comete errores que no se puede permitir, detalles
que le castigan y que tiene que corregir si quiere seguirle la estela al
Liverpool.
Aunque la suerte también
influye en una liga tan competida como la Premier, favorecido por una
zancadilla de Douglas Luiz a Pogba. Un toque ligero, puede que involuntario,
que no hizo dudar a Michael Oliver: 2-1 tras otra ejecución fantástica de
penalti de Bruno Fernandes. Hubo goles, pero pudo haber muchos más de no ser
por la exhibición de De Gea y de Emi Martínez. Le ganó el español al argentino,
y el United se acomoda arriba. Quiere competir la Premier. Y ese mensaje tiene
destinatario: el Liverpool.
