intervenido quirúrgicamente debido a unas heridas graves en los ojos y algo más
leves en las manos tras un accidente cuando manipulaba material pirotécnico.
La vida del futbolista
internacional de 29 años no corre peligro y se encuentra consciente, aunque los
médicos no pueden decir cuándo podrá volver a jugar ni cómo evolucionará su
visión.
"Hubo lesiones en ambos
ojos, un de ellos está en peor estado (...) Su situación es mejor ahora que
ayer. Puede ser necesaria una segunda intervención. Lo estamos planeando pero
aún no lo hemos decidido", indicó Vedat Kaya, el doctor que lo atendió en
un hospital de Estambul.

un de ellos está en peor estado
"Es muy difícil decir
algo sobre su regreso al fútbol. Con el tratamiento médico que recibirá, el ojo
(más afectado) puede mejorar, pero no es posible prever el resultado del
tratamiento todavía", agregó.
"En estos momentos puede
ver pero es imposible decir cómo va a evolucionar en el futuro", añadió el
médico. El futbolista nacido en Oslo se someterá a un tratamiento de
restauración.
Tanto el entrenador, Fatih
Terim, como el capitán del equipo, Arda Turan, se han desplazado al hospital
para interesarse por el estado de su compañero y transmitirle su apoyo.

también de los uruguayos Fernando Muslera y Marcelo Saracchi, así como del
delantero colombiano Radamel Falcao.
"El Galatasaray y yo
haremos todo lo que podamos por él. Es un proceso difícil. Le dije que luchara.
Ojalá todo vaya bien", dijo Fatih Terim tras visitarlo en el hospital.

Los medios turcos indican que
el accidente se produjo en la casa en Estambul del futbolista, cuando le
explotaron en las manos unos fuegos artificiales que se disponía a encender
para alegrar a sus hijos cuando se celebraba el año nuevo.
"Fue algo que hizo para
hacer feliz a sus hijos, no podemos verlo de otra manera", señaló Terim
sobre el accidente, aunque no reveló ningún detalle más sobre lo sucedido.
