La Premier League hizo público
este miércoles un comunicado en el que afirmó que, pese al aumento de positivos
por coronavirus, no piensa hacer un parón temporal en la competición como
reclamaban algunos sectores.
El comunicado de la Premier
indica que dicho organismo “no se ha planteado pausar la temporada y no tiene
previsto hacerlo”. Y sañade que “la Liga continúa confiando en sus protocolos
COVID-19 para permitir que los partidos se jueguen según lo programado”.
Este mismo miércoles se tuvo
que aplazar el partido Tottenham-Fulham debido a los positivos en el equipo que
dirige Scott Parker. El lunes sucedió lo mismo con el encuentro
Everton-Manchester City debido a los positivos en el seno del club ‘citizen’.
La Premier anunció el martes
una cifra récord de 18 positivos en los tests de coronavirus llevados a cabo en
los 20 clubs de la Premier durante la semana del 21 al 27 de diciembre a
jugadores, técnicos y empleados.
Este mismo miercoles el
Gobierno del Reino Unido decidió que no haya público en ningún estadio de la
Premier, ni siquiera en los dos de Liverpool, Anfield y Goodison Park, los
únicos que podían albergar espectadores (2.000 aficionados en cada encuentro)
por la situación de la pandemia.
