después de ser apartado de la disciplina del Yeni Malatyaspor, club turco en el
que había recalado en agosto.
Cueva comenzó a ejercitarse a
las órdenes del preparador físico José Neyra esta semana en Trujillo, capital
de la norteña región de La Libertad donde vive su familia.
El peruano "está fuera de
la plantilla" del Yeni Malatyaspor, según declaró recientemente el
presidente del club turco, Adil Gevrek, a medios locales.
Apartado a finales de
noviembre
El principal dirigente del
equipo detalló que la situación de Cueva es una decisión que depende
íntegramente del técnico, Hamza Hamzaoglu, quien lo apartó a finales de
noviembre después de que el jugador fuera reticente a ser sustituido antes de
finalizar el primer tiempo.
Ocurrió en la octava jornada
de la liga turca, donde el 8 de noviembre el Malatyaspor ganaba 2-0 al
Denizlispor a los 20 minutos de juego y Hamzaoglu decidió retirar a Cueva en el
minuto 37.
Esta circunstancia fue
criticada por Cueva y por su mujer en redes sociales tras el partido, lo que
tampoco gustó al técnico otomano.
Jugador fundamental para
Gareca
Con este episodio, la carrera
de Cueva vuelve a estar paralizada sin que el jugador de 29 años haya podido
recuperar su mejor nivel, exhibido en 2016 y 2017, cuando sus destacadas
actuaciones en el Sao Paulo brasileño lo volvieron un jugador fundamental en el
esquema de la selección peruana que dirige el técnico Ricardo Gareca.
No es la primera vez que Cueva
protagoniza un conflicto con un entrenador, pues este bache en la carrera del
centrocampista peruano comenzó con su paso por el Santos, donde el propio
jugador ha reconocido que tuvo una mala relación con Jorge Sampaoli.
En esa tesitura Cueva se
marchó del Santos en 2019 al Pachuca aduciendo retrasos en los pagos y sin
acuerdo entre clubes, por lo que Santos presentó una demanda de la FIFA, que
ahora ha ordenado a los mexicanos pagar 7 millones de dólares en concepto de
traspaso.
