El último tramo de temporada se había vuelto agreste para el Granada, incapaz de sumar de tres en tres, una dinámica que logró romper ante el Elche, gracias, en gran medida, al olfato goleador de Luis Suárez, que volvió a marcar, dejando patente su gran olfato goleador.
El delantero colombiano inició el curso dejando un rendimiento irregular, dudas que ha desterrado en el tramo más reciente de competición, perforando la portería rival en tres jornadas consecutivas, convirtiendo a Celta, Huesca y Elche en sus víctimas. Con estas tres dianas, Luis Suárez se convierte en el máximo artillero rojiblanco en la competición doméstica, registro que aumenta con los dos goles conseguidos en la Europa League.
A pesar de estar lejos aún de los 19 dianas que firmó el curso pasado en las filas del Zaragoza, Luis Suárez ha comenzado a amortizar con goles el importante desembolso que realizó el Granada el pasado verano para hacerse con sus servicios. El de Santa Marta parece haberse adaptado al equipo andaluz y ya se compenetra a la perfección con Machís o Soldado, sus compañeros en la punta de ataque rojiblanca.
Hay que remontarse cinco años atrás, hasta mayo de 2015, para encontrar otro jugador del Granada que encadenase tres jornadas consecutivas viendo puerta. En aquella ocasión lo logró El Arabi, pichichi rojiblanco en Primera, que envió el balón al fondo de las mallas ante Getafe, por partida doble, Córdoba y Real Sociedad. Dos temporadas antes, otro goleador ilustre del Granada como Ighalo, hizo lo propio al marcar de forma consecutiva contra Deportivo, Barça y Celta.

En las últimas temporadas, el juego de Machís ha ido evolucionando, hasta alcanzar una versión madura y enriquecida. Además de marcar, el extremo `vinotinto ha añadido a su repertorio una gran visión de juego, como demostró en el Martínez Valero al conectar con Luis Suárez en la jugada que significó el 0-1. Con esta asistencia, el venezolano ya suma tres pases de gol en Liga y se coloca entre los mejores del campeonato en este apartado, sólo por detrás de Ángel Correa, Canales y Óscar Plano.
