“Fue como una gripe muy mala,
cuando estás dos semanas sin hacer nada te sientes como si nunca hubieras
jugado a fútbol”, asegura
Kai Havertz, mediapunta del
Chelsea, confiesa que haber contraído la Covid-19 le ha abierto los ojos sobre
el debilitante efecto que el virus puede tener en la población al comprobar
cómo le dejó con una fatiga tan severa que se sintió como si no hubiera jugado
al fútbol antes.
Havertz, fichado por el
Chelsea en verano procedente del Bayer Leverkusen por 80 millones de euros, dio
positivo de Covid-19 a inicios de noviembre y se perdió tres partidos con su
club y otros tres con la selección alemana.
Una vez recuperado, Havertz ha
sido titular en los últimos tres partidos del Chelsea en Premier y Champions,
pero considera que vencer el virus ha sido un desafío difícil incluso para un
joven de 21 años como él.

“Fue como una gripe muy mala
para mí, así que ahora sé que es muy mala para la gente. Antes, a veces
pensaba, ‘está bien, no es tan mala’, pero ahora la ha tenido y sé que puede
ser mala para las personas mayores y las personas que habían estado enfermas con
anterioridad“, reflexiona Havertz en una entrevista a la BBC.
“Todos tenemos que cuidarnos
unos a otros. Personalmente fue difícil. Cuando no haces nada durante dos
semanas y media y luego empiezas a entrenar de nuevo, te sientes como si nunca
antes hubieras jugado a fútbol. A mí me llevó de dos a tres semanas para volver
al 100%”, explica Haverts acerca de su experiencia.

“Ahora he comenzado tres
partidos y me siento bien. Se necesita mucho tiempo, me llevó alrededor de un
mes y medio volver a mi nivel, pero ahora creo que estoy en forma nuevamente y
puedo comenzar a atacar de nuevo.”
Havertz ha sido titular en
ocho partidos de la Premier League esta temporada anotando un gol. Logró un
‘hat trick’ en su único partido de la Copa de la Liga contra el Barnsley en
septiembre. El Chelsea, tercero en la liga con 22 puntos en 11 partidos, visitará
el sábado al Everton.
