Pierre Webó, objeto del
insulto racista en el PSG-Basaksehir, revela que el “8 de diciembre será
recordado en la lucha contra el racismo”
Pierre Webó, integrante del
cuerpo técnico del Istanbul Basaksehir que el martes recibió un insulto racista
del cuarto árbitro que llevó a su equipo a retirarse en el minuto 14 del
partido de Champions League ante el PSG, asegura que el 8 de diciembre será
recordado con el paso de los años en la lucha contra el racismo. El encuentro
se reanudó al día siguiente con triunfo francés por 5-1.
Webo, ex delantero camerunés
de Osasuna, Mallorca y Leganés, confirma que el cuarto árbitro rumano Sebastian
Coltescu le faltó el respeto al referirse a él como “el negro” cuando le
comunicó al árbitro principal Ovidiu Hategan que debería ser expulsado por
protestar con vehemencia por una decisión.
“Ahora tendremos el día antes
del 8 de diciembre y el día siguiente. Será recordado”, afirma Webó, de 38
años, con orgullo en una entrevista a BBC Sport. Pero también revela que “fue
un día duro, muy duro. Es muy estresante, vi al médico para que me diera
algunas pastillas para dormir”.

“No quiero que la gente se
centre en mí, sería una pena que me recuerden por esto. Me avergüenzo de esto,

carrera”, agregó Webó.
Los jugadores de PSG y
Basaksehir, así como el nuevo equipo arbitral designado para la reanudación del
partido, se arrodillaron en el círculo central como muestra de protesta contra
el racismo. Webó cree que más acciones como esta obligarían a la UEFA a tomar
medidas más estrictas en incidentes de esta índole.

“¿Te imaginas si tienes dos,
tres, cuatro partidos así, deteniendo partidos por este tipo de cosas? Creo que
(la UEFA) se moverá”, vaticina Webó. “Demostramos que lo haremos. No es el
árbitro quien lo va a detener, son los jugadores. Creo que lo más importante es
la solidaridad de los jugadores. ¡Qué mensaje le mandamos al mundo!”, concluye
orgulloso.
