clasificados como primeros del grupo D
El Liverpool llegó a la última
jornada de la liguilla de Champions con los deberes hechos, clasificado para
octavos y como primero de grupo, y el seis veces campeón de Europa cerró su
participación con un empate (1-1), en un partido en que su rival, el
Midtjylland, creó ante la portería del joven Caoimhin Kelleher mucho más
peligro del que podía esperarse de inicio. Un gol de récord de Mohamed Salah
avanzó a los ‘reds’, pero Alexander Scholz niveló el marcador de penalti. De
récord porque con esta ‘diana’ Salah se convirtió en el máximo realizador del
club de Anfield en Champions, superando los 21 de Steven Gerrard.
El Liverpool, que ha ganado
cuatro partidos y únicamente perdido uno en la liguilla (el que le enfrentó al
Atalanta en Anfield, 0-2), se adelantó en Dinamarca en el primer minuto. Salah
protagonizó un robo de balón tras un mal pase de Scholz y culminó su internada
en un contragolpe batiendo al portero del Midtjylland, Jesper Hansen, fuera de
cuyo alcance envió el esférico.

Además de Kelleher, de los más
jóvenes Jürgen Klopp alineó como titulares en el eje de la defensa a Rhys
Williams y en el centro del campo a Leighton Clarkson, que a sus 19 años debutó
así en Champions. Fue un ‘once’ con una mayoría de suplentes y también de
récord: el más joven de la historia ‘red’ en Champions, con una media de 24
años y 26 días.
No fue el tempranero gol de
Salah, sin embargo, el inicio de un festival del Liverpool. Por el contrario,

Sviatchenko, y Pfeiffer pudieron incluso dar el triunfo al Midtjylland, que se
va de la Champions con la satisfacción de haber empatado ante el Liverpool y
haber podido incluso ganarle. El Atalanta es el otro clasificado para octavos
de este grupo D tras vencer al Ajax.
