Ni las numerosas bajas
evitaron que el Liverpool sellase su pase a los octavos de final de la
Champions League este martes al imponerse al Ajax en Anfield con un solitario
tanto de Curtis Jones (1-0). El conjunto dirigido por Jurgen Klopp aprovechó
una acción en la que Onana, portero del Ajax, estuvo muy desacertado, y con el
consecuente tanto certificó su clasificación cuando todavía resta por disputarse
la sexta y última jornada de este grupo D. En la misma se celebrará un
dramático Ajax-Atalanta en el que a los de Erik ten Hag solo les vale el
triunfo para acceder a las eliminatorias.
Ausente Alisson por precaución
debido a unas molestias musculares, sorprendió Klopp al apostar bajo palos por
Kelleher y no Adrián. El joven guardameta irlandés de 22 años debutaba en
Champions, y lo hizo completando una meritoria actuación que mucho tuvo que ver
en el triunfo ‘red’. Que cuando llegó el pitido final el técnico alemán se
dirigiese hacia él para fundirse en un abrazo es un detalle que habla por sí
solo.
El Liverpool ganó, pero lo
cierto es que le costó más de lo que podía parecer cuando en el 6’ Curtis Jones
estrelló en la madera un disparo que amenazó con ser el 1-0 ante un Onana
haciendo la estatua. Parecía entonces que los ‘red’ se adueñarían con facilidad
del duelo, pero durante la primera mitad ni mucho menos fue así, destacando en
el Ajax el joven centrocampista Gravenberch, uno de esos futbolistas que tiene
pinta de llegar a una de las grandes ligas europeas más pronto que tarde.
Ya en la segunda mitad el
partido ganó en cuanto a ocasiones de gol. Avisó primero Klaassen en el 50’ con
un cabezazo que no encontró la portería por muy poco, entre Kelleher y el palo
desbarataron una doble ocasión de Mazraoui y Neres en el 57’, y como el Ajax
perdonó en todo lo explicado, el destino se lo hizo pagar muy caro poco
después.
Concretamente en el 58’. Sí,
apenas un minuto más tarde de que Kelleher evitase el 0-1 fue Onana el que
facilitó el 1-0. Centró Neco Williams desde la derecha buscando el segundo
palo, el portero del Ajax salió a por uvas de forma incomprensible, y Curtis
Jones apareció de la nada para marcar a portería vacía.
De ahí hasta el final es cierto
que Onana le ganó a Firmino un uno contra uno de forma milagrosa, pero no bastó
para enmendar el error anteriormente comentado. Porque en la otra portería
Kelleher despejó un cabezazo a bocajarro en el 88’ que tenía toda la pinta de
ser el 1-1.
Al final, triunfo de un
Liverpool que ya está en octavos de final como primero de grupo, y el Ajax se
lo juega todo en la última jornada ante un Atalanta que sabe que el empate le
vale para dejar en la cuneta a los de Erik ten Hag.
