Nicolás Pépé llegó la temporada pasada al Arsenal en un fichaje muy sonado procedente del Lille. El último desencuentro con su hinchada se produjo en el partido ante el Leeds. El extremo fue expulsado por una acción absurda con Alioski y las críticas desde entonces fueron feroces. Tanto, que algunos sobrepasaron los límites y dedicaron insultos racistas a través de las redes. El club tuvo que emitir una nota condenando estos comentarios y saliendo en apoyo de su futbolista, realmente afectado por lo sucedido.
Algunos de los jugadores históricos del Arsenal y de la Premier también están siendo duros con el jugador.
