pasada jornada tras perder ante Bélgica, los ‘pross’ golearon a la débil
Islandia y se despiden de la mejor manera de la Nations League
La selección inglesa, después
de errar en su intento de estar en la fase final de la Liga de Naciones, se
resarció ante la débil Islandia y acabó el torneo con un solvente 4-0.
Los hombres de Gareth
Southgate se quedaron sin fase final al perder en su anterior encuentro, contra
Bélgica, por lo que este partido contra los islandeses era poca más que un
trámite, ya que el rival ya estaba descendido.
Aun así, Inglaterra quiso dar
una buena actuación en casa, en Wemlbley, y se impuso con los goles de Declan
Rice, Mason Mount y Phil Foden, por partida doble, ante unos islandeses que
jugaron con diez unos 40 minutos.
No guardó mucho en el banco
Southgate, que había perdido por lesión a Raheem Sterling y a Jordan Henderson.

claras para ampliar la renta.

parón, encima se quedaron con diez por expulsión por doble amarilla de
Saevarsson.
Inglaterra no hizo sangre y
bajó el pistón, aunque el 3-0 y el 4-0 acabaron cayendo por su propio peso, con
un remate raso y un disparo desde fuera del área a cargo de Foden.
Inglaterra acaba tercera de
este grupo 2 de la Liga de Naciones, con diez puntos, los mismos que Bélgica,
mientras que Islandia es colista, con cero unidades.
