El defensa danés salió de conjunto hispalense por la puerta de atrás y en San Siro, bajo el ala de Stefano Pioli, ha encontrado la felicidad futbolística.
El mundo del fútbol, como la vida, está lleno de variables e incógnitas y la fórmula del éxito, a veces, aparece cuando menos te lo esperas. O si no, que le pregunten a Simon Kjaer cuando el Sevilla le enviaba a préstamo al Atalanta en septiembre de 2019 y los de Bérgamo lo devolvían al Sánchez Pizjuán cuatro meses después. En la DEA comenzó de titular, pero terminaría perdiendo el paso, hasta el punto de no jugar minuto alguno a partir del 30 de octubre, más allá de un oasis en Champions ante el Dinamo de Zagreb (jugó los 90 minutos).
De vuelta en el sur de España, sin contar con la confianza sevillista, una nueva oportunidad se abrió en su horizonte: una nueva cesión, en esta ocasión al Milan. En San Siro cayó de pie y la llegada de Stefano Pioli le ha convertido en indiscutible e insustituible. En una entrevista a La Gazzetta dello Sport explica el porqué de este renacimiento: "Mi historia es sencilla, necesito tener confianza: siempre he respondido cuando me han dado continuidad". Y en el conjunto rossonero la tiene.
"Cuando pienso que hay aspectos tácticos que pueden cambiar para mejorar, me escucha", señala el danés respecto a su técnico. "Al final, es él quien decide, pero hay un diálogo. Es el entrenador perfecto para mí", sentencia. Además, también siente el apoyo de las altas esferas: "Maldini y Massara me trajeron para tener voz en el vestuario y ayudar a los más jóvenes. Llegué en un momento complicado (...). Ahora somos todo lo contrario...".
Ese cambio de tendencia ha devuelto a un histórico como el Milan a las cotas que hacía tiempo no alcanzaba. La presencia de un eterno Ibrahimovic recoge la mayoría de los focos, pero el papel de los Calhanoglu, Brahim, Saelekemaers, Theo, Donnaruma o el propio Kjaer es igual de importante. Este Milan joven y coral lleva la firma del arquitecto al que tantas flores dedica el exsevillista: Stefano Pioli.
El técnico italiano le ha entregado los mandos de la retaguardia a un Simon Kjaer que, a pesar de sumar ya 31 primaveras, está viviendo una segunda juventud. Hasta el momento, ha sido titular en todos los partidos y es el jugador con más minutos del equipo. De Sevilla salió por la puerta de atrás, en Atalanta no encontró su sitio, pero ahora es el hombre fuerte de la defensa del líder de la Serie A. Puede que el centenario internacional con Dinamarca haya encontrado, finalmente, un hogar en el que echar raíces futbolísticas.
