combinado boliviano y asciende al segundo puesto provisional a la espera de lo
que haga esta madrugada Argentina
Ecuador se anotó este
jueves una victoria en el fortín de Bolivia a más de 3.600 metros de altitud y
trepó en la clasificación de las eliminatorias sudamericanas del Mundial de
Catar 2022, hundiendo a la selección anfitriona que acumula tres derrotas
consecutivas.
En la tercera jornada, el
plantel dirigido por el argentino Gustavo Alfaro triunfó con goles de Beder
Caicedo en el minuto 46, Ángel Mena en el 55 y un penalti convertido por Carlos
Gruezo en el 88.
Para el equipo comandado
por el venezolano César Farías marcaron el experimentado Juan Carlos ‘Conejo’
Arce en el minuto 37 y el artillero Marcelo Martins Moreno en el 60.
Con el resultado, Ecuador
sumó los mismos 6 puntos que Brasil y Argentina, que están por ahora con un
partido menos, mientras que Bolivia sigue sin sumar y quedó al fondo de la
tabla.
En la primera mitad,
Ecuador jugó cómodamente y como si fuera local ante una Bolivia a la que le
costaba retener el balón y llegar al arco custodiado por Domínguez.
La Tri tuvo al menos dos
oportunidades para abrir el marcador, una de ellas en el minuto 7, cuando
Sornoza hizo un centro que Estrada no alcanzó para fortuna de la Verde.
Otra opción clara fue el
cabezazo de Mena en el minuto 20 que el meta boliviano Lampe pudo despejar.
Lo mejor de Bolivia hasta
ese momento fue un potente disparo de zurda de Roberto Carlos Fernández en el
minuto 22 que salió desviado.
La tensión finalmente se
rompió con la anotación del ‘Conejo’ Arce en el minuto 37, en una jugada
lograda con el aporte de Flores y Saavedra.
Los de Alfaro no bajaron
los brazos y buscaron el empate con jugadas como la del minuto 41, en la que
Mena nuevamente trató de anotar, pero el ‘Gigante’ Lampe le ganó el pulso.
Aunque la presión
ecuatoriana no cesó, la Verde de Farías pudo ir al descanso con la tranquilidad
de la ventaja parcial.
Tranquilidad que no duró
mucho, pues ni bien iniciado el segundo tiempo, Caicedo superó al zaguero
Valverde y marcó la igualdad para Ecuador, dejando desconcertados a los
locales.
Nueve minutos después,
Mena por fin tuvo su revancha y batió la meta de Lampe tras un error de la
defensa Verde.
Bolivia tomó una bocanada
de aire con el gol de su capitán, que aprovechó un tiro de esquina de Arce para
marcar de cabeza en el minuto 60.
Con su anotación, el
‘Flecheiro’ Martins igualó la marca de 20 dianas que tenía Joaquín Botero como
máximo goleador de la selección boliviana.
El árbitro brasileño
Wilton Sampaio cobró un penalti a favor de la visita tras revisar el VAR por
una jugada en la que verificó una mano del boliviano Jusino.
Gruezo fue el encargado
de rematar, poniendo en ventaja a su equipo en el minuto 88.
Con el empuje de un
incansable ‘Conejo’ Arce, Bolivia buscó desesperadamente el empate en los
minutos finales, pero no le alcanzó.
Los ecuatorianos
recibirán en Quito a Colombia y los bolivianos visitarán a Paraguay en Asunción
en la cuarta fecha.
