impuso por 4-5 a Serbia en la tanda de penaltis en una final de repesca que
acabó el tiempo extra con empate en el marcador (1-1).

llevó el partido a la prórroga en el último minuto del tiempo reglamentario.

El guardameta escocés, que
ya estuvo a punto de atajar el penalti lanzado por Jovic, dio el triunfo y la
clasificación a Escocia tras adivinar el lanzamiento final de Mitrovic, una
parada que permitió al combinado británico regresar veinticinco años después a
la fase final de una Eurocopa, que no jugaba desde el ya lejano 1996.
Como entonces, la
selección escocesa se medirá en la primera fase con Inglaterra, que parte como
el gran favorito de un grupo D, en el que además Croacia y la República Checa.
