El exjugador ha querido darle un consejo, para que no le pase lo mismo que le pasó a él con Fernando Torres.
El español era el titular en Anfield y a Crouch le tocaba estar en el banquillo más de lo deseado. Sin embargo, el madrileño poco después dejó el club y se fue al Chelsea, lo que le hubiera dado otra oportunidad. Para aquel momento, Crouch ya se había ido... al Portsmouth, un club inferior.
Este es el consejo que le deja Crouch a Shaqiri: "Tiene mucha competencia, pero es lo suficientemente bueno para jugar. A mí me pasó lo mismo. Recuerdo cuando Fernando Torres estaba en el Liverpool cuando yo estuve allí, y hubo una temporada después de su llegada en la que no conseguí muchos partidos. Pero luego, cuando Torres se fue al Chelsea, yo ya me había ido. Así que si me hubiera quedado, podría haber jugado otros dos, tres años en un club tan bueno. Le diría a cualquiera de esos jugadores en esa posición que no se den por vencidos demasiado pronto, porque vale la pena luchar por un club especial como este", admitió Crouch.
