Así lo sostuvo durante su
participación en el programa televisivo ‘Los especiales de Cristina Morán’.
A dos meses de haber sido
despedido como entrenador del Peñarol, Diego Forlán rompió el silencio este
martes y aseguró, entre otras cosas, que no sabe si su despido se debió a temas
profesionales o a cuestiones personales de los directivos del equipo.
Así lo sostuvo durante su
participación en el programa televisivo "Los especiales de Cristina
Morán" donde mantuvo un diálogo distendido junto a otros íconos del
deporte uruguayo como la atleta Deborah Rodríguez, el exbaloncestitsa Marcelo
Capalbo y el extenista Diego Pérez.
"Hay que preguntarle
a aquellos que toman la decisión, de cuál era realmente la razón, si era
personal o profesional, de por qué se tomó esa decisión, porque en realidad el
trabajo se estaba haciendo, se estaba viendo, las estadísticas que son las que
mandan y estaban ahí y tomaron una decisión, son las reglas de juego y uno no
tiene nada más que decir", enfatizó el histórico exfutbolista celeste.
Forlán fue cesado del
Peñarol a fines de agosto, luego de perder un encuentro ante el Wanderers y tras
tan solo dirigir nueve fechas en el Torneo Apertura del fútbol uruguayo.
Pese a que estaba en su
primera experiencia como entrenador profesional, a que el equipo estuvo mucho
tiempo parado debido a la pandemia por la covid-19 y a que todavía seguía con
posibilidades de clasificar a octavos de final de la Libertadores, los
directivos decidieron cortar el proceso de trabajo y sustituirle por el actual
entrenador, Mario Saralegui.
Ante la pregunta de qué
sentía luego de haber cerrado su ciclo, Forlán fue concreto: "Me lo
cerraron" y luego sostuvo que está agradecido con el equipo del que es
hincha por haberle dado la oportunidad.
"A diferencia de los
otros, lamentablemente en el fútbol entre el peor y el mejor hay un gol de
diferencia y eso termina siendo malo para aquellos que no tienen conocimiento y
que no saben lo que es. Para los tres millones y pico que tenemos de habitantes
que piensan que saben porque están en la tele y dice 'hacé este cambio'. Pensás
que vos sabes, cuando en realidad no tenés ni idea", explicó.
El exjugador de equipos
como el Villarreal, Atlético Madrid, Inter de Milán, Peñarol e Independiente,
dijo que en otros deportes como el baloncesto, el tenis o el atletismo,
necesitas ser muy fuerte para ganarle a los mejores.
"En el fútbol
increíblemente te agarra un equipo que no trabajó bien, que no hizo las cosas
bien durante la semana y te hace un gol y te ganó el partido. Vos venís
haciendo las cosas bien y todo eso se termina yendo a la basura. El partido que
me terminan sacando del cargo contra Wanderers si nosotros ganábamos estábamos
a un punto del primero, entonces no estábamos tan mal", concluyó.
