En su segundo encuentro sin
Virgin van Dijk, que estará entre siete y ocho meses fuera de los terrenos de
juego, el Liverpool tuvo que remontar ante un Sheffield United que opuso más
resistencia de la esperada y se situó colíder de la Premier League a la espera
de lo que haga este domingo el Everton de Carlo Ancelotti, la revelación del
campeonato.
Jürgen Klopp optó por quitar un
centrocampista y sumó a Diogo Jota a su tridente titular, logrando intimidar a
un Sheffield que se encerró en su área desde el primer minuto de partido.
Penalti de Fabinho, central

Pero en el 10’, los ‘blades’ se
encontraron con un inocente penalti de Fabinho que señaló el VAR. El brasileño,
central improvisado por las bajas de Van Dijk y Matip, arrolló a McBurnie al
borde del área y Berge engañó a Alisson, que volvía a la titularidad después de
su lesión.
El gol dejó noqueado al Liverpool
durante unos minutos en los que los visitantes pidieron otra pena máxima y
rozaron el segundo tanto un par de ocasiones. Hasta que al filo del descanso,
Roberto Firmino aprovechó un rechace de Ramsdale a remate de Sadio Mané para
poner el empate con el que los futbolistas se irían a los vestuarios.

Henderson se erigió en el líder de unos ‘reds’ dominantes pero faltos de
acierto en los metros finales. Hasta que Diogo Jota, un minuto después de que
el VAR invalidara un tanto de Mo Salah por posición antirreglamentaria,
aprovechó un gran servicio de Mané desde la izquierda para poner el 2-1
definitivo en el luminoso.
Salah, gafado anoche, se topó con
el poste en un tramo final de partido que supo manejar perfectamente un
Liverpool que sumó de esta manera su segunda victoria ‘post Van Dijk’, dejando
al Sheffield un poco más hundido en la clasificación y poniendo tierra de por
medio con el Manchester City, al que ya tiene a cinco puntos.
