Sevilla FC El extremeño mostró gran nivel en Champions y espera su oportunidad.
Óliver Torres tiene un sabor agridulce de su primer año en el Sevilla. Está completamente adaptado a la ciudad, al club y es un futbolista querido en el vestuario. Hasta ahí todo bien. Y encima, con los números en la mano, sumó seis goles y cinco asistencias en 37 encuentros. Terminaba LaLiga con confianza, habiendo sido titular en siete de los once encuentros -cinco de los últimos seis- disputados tras el confinamiento. Lopetegui lo solicitó cuando estaba en el Oporto y el rendimiento del extremeño no se había hecho esperar, siempre más alto cuanto más centrado jugase. Pero esa confianza se evaporó en un momento clave.
O simplemente el entrenador entendió que sus aptitudes no eran las mejores para un torneo corto, de cuatro partidos -todos definitivos- con los que conquistar la sexta Europa League. Óliver vio todos esos partidos animando desde el banquillo. Sin una mala cara, ni un mal gesto. De hecho, fue de los que más disfrutó en la celebración del título. Era parte del equipo y así lo sintieron todos sus integrantes.
Sin embargo, a Óliver se le quedó ese pequeño resquemor de no haber podido participar y ayudar en la conquista del título. Es como si su visión del futuro, al que miraba con ilusión, se hubiese distorsionado. Porque el centrocampista estaba señalado por muchos como el recambio natural de Éver Banega. El argentino monopolizaba el juego del Sevilla. En sus momentos bajos del curso -previo confinamiento-, le tocó a Óliver asumir la máxima responsabilidad. En el último partido con público en Nervión, ante Osasuna, fue motor del equipo. Era su momento para despegar.
Este curso ha comenzado parecido a como terminó el anterior. Lopetegui no lo deja sin jugar, incluso le dio una titularidad (Cádiz), pero sin que asuma un papel protagonista. En Stamford Bridge cambió el guion del partido en el tramo final. Su dinamismo le viene de perlas a un equipo por momentos más aguerrido que brillante. Óliver espera su gran oportunidad. Está preparado.
