La Premier League
2020-2021 está batiendo registros goleadores. En los 38 partidos disputados,
pese a la ausencia de público en los estadios, se han registrado 144 goles
siendo el promedio de 3,79 por encuentro. Se trata de la mejor media
realizadora del campeonato inglés en los últimos 60 años tras las cuatro
primeras jornadas.
Ya en el primer día de
competición, el 12 de agosto, la Premier deparó un electrizante Liverpool-Leeds
en Anfield que se saldó con un espectacular 4-3. Los ‘reds’, que empezaban la
defensa del título que se le resistía desde 1990, se adelantaron tres veces en
el marcador, pero el equipo de Marcelo Bielsa, que volvía a la máxima categoría
tras 16 años de ausencia, respondió con otros tantos goles y no dobló la
rodilla hasta el minuto 88, cuando Rodrigo Moreno cometió un penalti y Mohamed
Salah lo convirtió en el definitivo 4-3 completando así su ‘hat trick’.
La segunda jornada
también fue pródiga en resultados abultados. En, concreto en tres partidos se
marcaron 7 goles. El sorprendente Leeds volvió a estar implicado en uno de
ellos, pero en esta ocasión se impuso por 4-3 al Fulham. El Everton, actual
líder con un pleno de 12 puntos, ya empezó a dar muestras de su potencial
ofensivo con un 5-2 al ascendido West Bromwich Albion con un ‘hat trick de
Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Pichichi ahora con 6 tantos, mientras James Rodríguez,
el otro gran responsable del gran inicio de temporada del equipo de Carlo
Ancelotti, vio puerta una vez.
En esta segunda jornada
también el Tottenham de José Mourinho arrolló al Southampton en su visita al
Saint Mary’s Stadium con un aplastante 2-5. El surcoreano Heung-min Son firmó
el solito cuatro goles y el inevitable Harry Kane completó la manita.
En la tercera, de nuevo
hubo un 2-5, en esta ocasión con el Manchester City de Pep Guardiola recibiendo
una sonora bofetada por parte del Leicester, con ‘hat trick’ de Jaime Vardy.
Por otra parte, hubo 6 tantos en el empate (3-3) entre el West Bromwich Albion y
el Chelsea en el que los locales llegaron a dominar por 3-0 y 5 en el 2-3 entre
Brighton y Manchester United.
El 4 de octubre, antes
del parón de selecciones, Liverpool y Manchester United encajaron sendas
goleadas históricas ante Aston Villa (7-2) y Tottenham (1-6).
A lo largo de este fin de
semana se disputan encuentros como el Manchester City-Arsenal y el Everton-Liverpool
