Ander Barrenetxea se estrena hoy en una convocatoria de la selección sub 21, pese a contar aún con 18 años, lo que demuestra el precoz crecimiento que está teniendo con la Real Sociedad, en cuyas alineaciones empieza a ser ya un habitual, pese a ser el más joven de la plantilla. El atacante donostiarra ha conseguido tener minutos en los 10 últimos encuentros oficiales de los txuriurdin.
Barrenetxea fue una de las novedades de Luis de la Fuente en la lista de futbolistas que el seleccionador sub 21 citó el pasado viernes para concentrarse hoy en la Ciudad del Fútbol de Las Rozas, con vistas a preparar los encuentros contra Islas Feróe y Kazajistán, ambos valederos para el campeonato de Europa de la categoría que se celebrará en Hungría y Eslovenia, en los meses de mayo y junio del próximo año.
La llamada le llega al futbolista donostiarra después de haber participado en las cinco jornadas de LaLiga que se llevan, en tres de ellas como titular, y haber sido uno de los destacados por el bando de Imanol Alguacil, aunque le ha faltado marcar algún gol o haber dado una asistencia, para que su juego hubiese tenido más brillo.
Barrenetxea ya entró habitualmente en los planes de Imanol en el final del pasado campeonato, en el que dispuso de minutos en las cinco últimas jornadas, con lo que ya lleva 10 de manera consecutiva, lo que puede decir que se ha asentado en el primer equipo, con el que debutó hace ya casi dos años, con tan sólo 16.
Merquelanz aumenta la competencia
El '22', eso sí, deberá de seguir trabajando mucho para continuar teniendo protagonismo, ya que la recuperación de Merquelanz añade competencia a su habitual demarcación de extremo zurdo, la de Mikel Oyarzabal, y en la zona de ataque también están Isak, Willian José, Portu y Januzaj, casi nada, buscando ser importantes para el entrenador de Orio.
De momento, antes de seguir compitiendo con ellos por los minutos de juego, Barrenetxea vivirá sus primeros días con la selección sub 21, a la que acudirá junto a su compañero Martín Zubimendi, coincidiendo ambos con Marc Cucurella, después de tener sus más y sus menos en el partido del sábado pasado en Anoeta.
