No se le puede negar al City su compromiso en Copa de la Liga, siempre predispuesto a pesar del calendario. Fue de menos a más, penalizado de inicio por una falta de tino que supo subsanar a tiempo. De Bruyne lideró al equipo, surtidor de un City que tuvo paciencia con el balón. Desahogado por el tanto de Sterling, el segundo tiempo fue un bálsamo. Brillante en la lectura del juego y en el pase, el belga citó a Ferran Torres al espacio para que Sterling sentenciara a placer. El ex del Valencia se estrenó en Turf Moor, después de que enviara minutos antes un remate a la madera. A la segunda no perdonó, acertado al contragolpe. El City se reconcilia con el triunfo después de una semana convulsa y complicada.
