El club
lisboeta hará dicho cambio de nombre en honor del hoy juventino, que llegó a
sus categorías inferiores a los 12 años.
La escuela de
fútbol del Sporting, una de las más importantes de Portugal y conocida como
Academia de Alcochete, pasará a llamarse Academia Cristiano Ronaldo, según
informó este lunes el club luso.
El Sporting de
Portugal recordó este lunes en un comunicado que Cristiano Ronaldo llegó al
club lisboeta con 12 años de edad en el verano de 1997, procedente del Nacional
de Funchal, su ciudad natal.
Cinco años
después, el 14 de agosto de 2002, debutó a los 17 años con el primer equipo
frente al Inter de Milán y desde entonces no ha parado de sumar éxitos con los
diferentes clubs en los que ha militado: Manchester United, Real Madrid y
Juventus.
El club quiere
"inmortalizar el mayor símbolo" que se formó en el Sporting Club de
Portugal para que siga siendo "la inspiración de todos los jóvenes
talentos", se indica.
La inauguración
oficial con el nombre de la Academia Cristiano Ronaldo tendrá lugar en breve,
aunque, de momento, no hay fechas definidas.
Además del
homenaje a Cristiano Ronaldo, el club también rendirá tributo a otros
futbolistas que se forjaron en esta escuela, aunque aún no han sido desvelados
los nombres.
El Sporting
asegura que Cristiano Ronaldo es "el mejor jugador del mundo" y
recuerda que ha logrado cinco Balones de Oro y es el capitán de Portugal,
actual campeona de Europa y de la Nations League.
