La imagen que
todos querían ver llegó en el descanso. Justo después del paso por vestuarios,
la cámara del partido enfocó a Thiago Alcántara, que ya estaba vestido de
corto, en rojo, dispuesto a salir a jugar la segunda mitad. La expulsión de
Christensen en el 45’ impulsó a Klopp a dar el golpe definitivo: con Thiago, el
Liverpool no perdería el balón. El español salió con personalidad, dio ánimos a
todos sus compañeros y empezó a pedir el balón una y otra vez. Pases fáciles y
pases por encima de la defensa, toques cortos y toques largos. Un poco de todo.
Diez minutos más tarde, del 0-0 se había pasado al 0-2, ya insalvable para un
Chelsea con diez.
El debut de
Thiago fue la principal noticia para el Liverpool, aunque el protagonista en
los goles fue Sadio Mané, autor de un doblete una semana después de que Salah

Salah y Firmino, con éste poniendo un centro medido a la cabeza del senegalés.
Instantes después

segundo. Un error más del portero español en el momento más crítico de su
estancia en el Chelsea: durante esta semana los ‘blues’ confirmarán el fichaje
de Mendy, que se intuye titular desde el primer día y que pone aún más en duda
el futuro de Kepa en Stamford Bridge.
La expulsión de
Christensen cuando Mané se quedaba delante de Kepa fue el detonante que
desniveló el partido. Hasta ese momento, durante todo el primer tiempo, el
Liverpool fue superior, pero el Chelsea tenía esperanzas: Timo Werner. El
alemán no fue delantero centro, sino que se escoró a la banda izquierda
–dejando a Havertz de falso nueve- y desde ahí metió miedo a los visitantes.
Suyas fueron las mejores jugadas hasta el intervalo, aunque Fabinho, central
ante la ausencia de Joe Gómez y Matip, estuvo pletórico en el duelo.
A pesar de todo,
el Chelsea tuvo una última opción de agarrarse al partido… y la tuvo gracias a
Werner, por supuesto, quien forzó un penalti de la nada. Lo cometió Thiago. Sin
