El presidente
del organismo regidor del fútbol mundial habló ante los medios: "El
próximo desafío es que los aficionados vuelvan a llenar los estadios".
El presidente de
la FIFA, Gianni Infantino, aseguró que "en la nueva FIFA el dinero ya no
desaparece y va donde tiene que ir, a ayudar al fútbol" en la situación de
pandemia actual, en la que "el próximo desafío es que los aficionados
vuelvan a llenar los estadios". Durante su intervención en la apertura del
70 Congreso que la FIFA celebra este viernes de manera telemática, Infantino
destacó las medidas adoptadas por la organización para ayudar económicamente a
las asociaciones nacionales y las confederaciones, como el plan de apoyo, con
una dotación de 1.500 millones de dólares. "La FIFA no está haciendo
frente a una crisis, el fútbol sí y por eso me resultó evidente que la FIFA
tenía que estar ahí para ayudar y en la nueva FIFA el dinero ya no desaparece,
va a donde tiene que ir, al fútbol, a ayudar al fútbol. Tenemos un sistema muy
transparente", dijo tras referirse a "un plan histórico que no tiene
parangón en el mundo del deporte".
El presidente
denunció que "la FIFA era un lugar tóxico" hace cinco años y defendió
que su reunión con el fiscal general de Suiza, por la que se abrió una
investigación en el país, "era una obligación porque", dijo,
"quería liberar a la FIFA de las sombras del pasado". "Sigo con
esta intención, no podemos conducir la organización al futuro si somos presos
de su pasado y para ello hace dos días me reuní en Washington con la fiscal
general de Estados Unidos para demostrar que estamos resueltos a no volver a
esa senda pasada", afirmó.
Infantino apuntó
que la situación financiera de la FIFA ha permitido multiplicar por cinco la
inversión en el desarrollo del fútbol, gracias "a una buena gestión,
conservadora, y a utilizar una cantidad importante de reservas en caso de tener
que hacer frente a una crisis", y que "el próximo desafío es que los
aficionados vuelvan a llenar los estadios" "El fútbol sin aficionados
no es lo mismo, tenemos que tener la salud como prioridad, pero tenemos que
trabajar para intentar que se pueda volver a la normalidad y ver estadios
llenos. Ojalá que la normalidad del futuro sea mejor que la del pasado",
añadió en conexión con las 211 asociaciones nacionales que forman la FIFA.
