cree que el organismo no actuó “apropiadamente” ante la oferta de un consorcio
de Arabia y considera “todas las opciones”.
El Newcastle
acusa a la Premier League de actuar de manera inapropiada al rechazar la
operación de compra presentada por un consorcio respaldado por Arabia Saudí. El
club inglés, cuya versión parece contradecir a la del organismo futbolístico,
emitió hoy un comunicado en el que también deja constancia que está
“considerando todas las opciones relevantes posibles”.
La operación,
cifrada en 300 millones de libras (330 millones de euros), para comprar el
Newcastle a su actual propietario, MIke Ashley, se frustró en julio pasado. La
decisión se produjo después de un largo escrutinio por parte de la Premier
League, que se vio presionada para bloquear el acuerdo ante la preocupación por
la supuesta piratería de transmisiones en el estado del Golfo.
El consorcio
incluía al fondo soberano de Arabia Saudita PIF, PCP Capital Partners y Reuben
Brothers.

El director
ejecutivo de la Premier League, Richard Masters, dijo en agosto que la
operación no se materializó después de que el grupo rechazó una oferta de
arbitraje independiente y se retiró voluntariamente.
También aseguró
Masters que nunca se le pidió a la Premier League que hiciera una evaluación
sobre la idoneidad de los miembros del consorcio, ya que el grupo acabó
retirando su oferta antes de que se resolviera el problema.

Sin embargo,
Newcastle considera que la Premier League rechazó la oferta. “Se llegó a esta
conclusión a pesar de que el club proporcionó a la Premier League pruebas
abrumadoras y opiniones legales de que el PIF es independiente y autónomo del
gobierno de Arabia Saudita”, agrega el club inglés en su comunicado.
“El
club y sus propietarios no aceptan que ... Masters y la Premier League hayan
actuado de manera adecuada en relación con este asunto y considerán todas las
opciones relevantes disponibles para ellos”.

constancia de que Mike Ashley estuvo “totalmente comprometido” con la operación
y sentía que era lo mejor para el club.
