El jugador francés se mofó del PSG en su Twitter aunque antaño estuvo cerca de jugar para ellos para salir del Saint-Ettiene. Llegó a estar en París.
Dimitri Payet es todo un ídolo en Marsella. El jugador de Reunión vive su segunda etapa en la ciudad del sur de Francia convertido en uno de los referentes del equipo dentro y fuera del terreno de juego. En el campo, sigue siendo una estrella y fuera, se considera un marsellés más. Si sus vecinos salieron a las calles a 'celebrar' la derrota del PSG, su gran rival, Payet lo hizo desde su casa y a través de Twitter 'negando' la Champions a los parisinos.
"Una historia, un club, una ciudad. Siempre seremos los primeros" añadía junto a un gif celebrando que el OM sigue siendo el único campeón de Europa francés. Lo que hoy es inquina, antes, fue amor e interés por parte de ambos.
En la 2010-11, Payet era una de las promesas más notables de la Ligue 1, donde brillaba con el Saint-Ettiene y el PSG se interesó en él. Los parisinos acababan de perder a Sessegnon y pensaron en el extremo para reforzar su ataque.
Según la prensa francesa, el club parisino puso seis millones encima de la mesa. Era finales de enero y al Saint Ettiene le parecía poco dinero para el breve espacio de tiempo (apenas tres días) que tenían para intentar revertir la situación y buscar un refuerzo. Un 'no' al PSG y empezó el lío.
Payet se enfadó y se puso en rebeldía. No acudió a la charla del día anterior al partido de esa jornada contra el Toulouse, ni a la inmediatamente previa. Finalmente, se niega a jugar. Los suyos sacaron el partido adelante (2-1) con la sombra de su salida presente.
El jugador no se detuvo ahí. Los días siguientes se negó a entrenar y el 31, se marchó directamente a París convencido de que su traspaso llegaría a buen puerto pero el Saint-Ettiene no atendía a razones. El PSG elevó su oferta al máximo que se podía permitir (8 millones de euros) pero después de otro 'no' de los verdes, se rindió. Desesperado, el de Reunión intentó resolver su salida de 'de motu propio' llamando a unos y otros pero no lo logró.
El 2 de enero, según refleja L'Equipe, volvió a entrenar y tardó unas cuantas semanas en volver al once titular lo que no le privó de acabar con unos números notables (13 goles y seis asistencias). Al final de la campaña, acabó firmando por el Lille, que pagó un millón más de lo que ofrecía el PSG en invierno. En 2013, pisó Marsella y ya se entregó de lleno al sur salvo un breve periplo en Londres.
