Fichajes Villarreal Elegido portero del año en la Championship esta temporada con el Brentford.
El Villarreal se ha movido rápido en el mercado para buscar un sustituto que supla la más que segura marcha de Andrés Fernández al Huesca. Y en ese sentido el conjunto castellonense tiene en un lugar prioritario de su agenda al joven guardameta español, David Raya, que esta temporada ha jugado en el Brentford de la Championship inglesa.
Raya, de 24 años, llegó al fútbol británico muy joven tras fichar en el año 2012 por el Blackburn sub 18, procedente de la UE Cornellà. La pasada temporada fue al Brentford, donde se hizo rápidamente con la titularidad y se convirtió en pieza clave de la buena temporada de un equipo que peleó hasta el último minuto por el ascenso a la Premier.
Precisamente, y pese a ser elegido mejor portero de la categoría, un error suyo en la eliminatoria ante el Fulham, dejó sin ascenso a su equipo. En las últimas semanas su nombre incluso se había relacionado con importantes equipos de la Premier como el Arsenal.
Pese a que el Villarreal maneja otras opciones en el mercado, la de Raya se ve con muy buenos ojos dada la tremenda progresión que el jugador ha demostrado en esta última temporada y por ser del gusto de Unai Emery. Raya es un guardameta de notable poderío en el juego aéreo con sus 186 centímetros que ya ha llamado la atención de importantes conjuntos como ahora el Villarreal.
