El Manchester
City homenajeará a David Silva por todo lo alto, después de que este abandone
el club por el fin de su contrato y su necesidad de cambiar de aires. Khaldoon
Al Mubarak, presidente de la entidad, ha anunciado que harán una estatua del
futbolista canario en los exteriores del Etihad para agradecer todo lo que ha
dado por el club a lo largo de estos últimos diez años.
El para muchos
considerado mejor jugador de la historia del club también tendrá su espacio en
la ciudad deportiva, con un mosaico hecho a medida. El presidente se deshizo en
elogios sobre su figura antes de anunciar las medidas con las que le rendirán
tributo: "David Silva ha dejado su sello en el equipo, en la historia de
este club y en la Premier League. Ha cambiado la historia del club, es un líder
silencioso que ha actuado de forma tranquila y meditada y ha inspirado a
todos".

nunca volverá a ser lo mismo tras la marcha de David. Realmente ha sido un
jugador transformador, ha aportado mucho al fútbol inglés. La gente a veces ha
subestimado el físico de David. Su dureza mental y física es algo que nos

El canario se
despidió del City tras la derrota ante el Olympique de Lyon. Fichado en 2010,
ha vestido la camiseta citizen un total de 436 ocasiones, con 77 goles y 140
asistencias. No pudo ser homenajeado por la situación de la pandemia, pero el
club ya ha anunciado que le preparará una fiesta por todo lo alto, cuando la
emergencia sanitaria lo permite. Se va una leyenda, pero su estatua siempre
quedará en las inmediaciones del Etihad.

"Ha llegado
el momento, 10 años y 13 títulos después digo adiós al club que ha marcado mi
carrera y mi vida. Al mirar hacia atrás, veo que no podía haber tomado mejor
decisión cuando en 2010 el City me propuso formar parte de su nuevo
proyecto", escribió el canario en una carta hecha pública en las redes
sociales después de que conociese que una estatua suya será instalada en el
estadio Etihad.

tanto como profesional, como personalmente, celebré muchos triunfos como mi

"Además, el
club me ha demostrado que es una gran familia. Se volcaron conmigo en los
momentos más difíciles de mi vida, dándonde su incondicional apoyo y
comprensión. Ha sido un honor enorme vestir la camiseta celeste, portar con
orgullo el brazalete de capitán de este gran club y compartir vestuario con los
mejores compañeros, entrenadores y directivos del mundo", indicó. Además,
el jugador canario también agradeció el apoyo de la afición durante todos estos
años. "(...) Y tener detrás, partido a partido, a una afición que me ha
hecho sentir como en casa apoyándome desde el inicio en los buenos y en los
malos momentos. Espero que el City coseche los máximos exitos en el
futuro", sentenció.
