Disciplina de la LFP decidió sancionar al portugués de manera contundente y le
impuso un castigo de seis meses sin poder jugar. Justamente el día 6 de agosto
se cumplía el plazo y Gelson Martins escribía cómo se sentía en una de sus
redes sociales. "Hoy termina el castigo. Cada vez que cometo errores,
asumo mis errores y pago por ellos. ¡Lo que no nos mata nos hace más fuertes,
todo está detrás de nosotros y ahora estoy más fuerte y más motivado que nunca!
Quiero agradecer a todos los que me apoyaron en esta fase menos buena, hubo
pocos, pero fueron suficientes para estar aquí hoy y luchar por mis
sueños". El exfutbolista de Sporting de Portugal y Atlético de Madrid está
en plena pretemporada con el Mónaco preparando el inminente inicio de la liga
francesa 2020-2021. "Seis meses ha sido mucho tiempo. Estoy orgulloso de
mi primer partido", afirmó antes del encuentro de este sábado.
El futbolista
luso se tuvo que enfrentar a un mal trago el julio pasado cuando la Federación
francesa quería alargar su sanción hasta noviembre, aludiendo que los meses en
los que no se pudo jugar el campeonato francés por el coronavirus no se le
descontarán del
castigo. Finalmente, el Comité Nacional Olímpico Deportivo Francés (CNOSF)
buscó una conciliación con la Federación para reducir la sanción al exjugador
del Atlético de Madrid y así respetar la fecha inicial del 6 de agosto como
límite de la sanción.
