El gobierno
medita interrumpir la competición después de que el defensa del Celtic, Boli
Bolingoli, jugara sin haber respetado la cuarentena tras regresar de España,
donde estaba de vacaciones.
El gobierno
escocés amenazó este martes con la interrupción del campeonato nacional de
fútbol, que acaba de comenzar, debido a varias infracciones a las reglas de
salud establecidas contra la pandemia de la Covid-19.
El defensa belga
del Celtic Glasgow, Boli Bolingoli, ha admitido no haber completado la
cuarentena obligatoria a su regreso de vacaciones en España. Jugó con el Celtic
ante el Kilmarnock (1-1) el domingo, en el segundo partido liguero del club
esta temporada.El jugador se disculpó, reconociendo un “gran error de juicio”,
y el Celtic, que reaccionó con contundencia, abrió una investigación.
“Es difícil
imaginar una acción más irresponsable en las circunstancias actuales, y no
podemos encontrar explicaciones para ello”, escribió Celtic en un comunicado, y
agregó que “tomaría una decisión inmediata después de (su) propios
procedimientos disciplinarios “. “Estamos en conversaciones con el club y los
órganos rectores del fútbol para establecer los hechos”, por su parte reaccionó
el gobierno escocés en un comunicado. “Si esto se confirma como otro incidente
grave en el fútbol escocés, donde se han violado los protocolos poniendo en
riesgo la salud pública, entonces el gobierno escocés no tendrá más remedio que
considerar si es necesaria una pausa en el regreso fútbol en Escocia”.

Este asunto se
suma a la polémica provocada por el paso de ocho jugadores de Aberdeen en un
bar la semana pasada. Desde entonces, dos de ellos dieron positivo por
Covid-19, lo que provocó el aplazamiento de la reunión de su club contra St.
Johnstone, programada para el domingo pasado.
El Campeonato de
Escocia se reanudó el 1 de agosto y hasta el momento se han jugado 11 partidos.
La temporada pasada, interrumpida el 13 de marzo por la pandemia de
coronavirus, no se había reanudado, a diferencia de la Premier League inglesa,
y el título había sido otorgado al Celtic Glasgow según un ranking final
