defensa griego del Olympiacos.
Tal y como había
adelantado Goal en las últimas horas, el Liverpool ha hecho oficial este lunes
el fichaje del defensa Kostas Tsimikas, que llega a Anfield procedente del
Olympiakos de Grecia.
Tsimikas, primer
refuerzo de Jurgen Klopp para la nueva campaña, se une al campeón de la Premier
League por una suma de dinero que ronda los 13 millones euros, y firma un
contrato que le une a los Reds por los próximos cinco años.
El jugador de 24
años, que recibió la camiseta número 21 nada más llegar al Liverpool, competirá
con el internacional escocés Andy Robertson en la posición de lateral
izquierdo.
Los Reds
dirigieron su atención al internacional griego después de no llegar a un
acuerdo con el Norwich City para el traspaso Jamal Lewis, de 22 años.
Consultado sobre
la transferencia, el técnico del Liverpool, Jurgen Klopp, aseguró: “Hemos visto
a Kostas durante mucho tiempo y estamos muy felices de que se haya unido a
nosotros. Es la noticia perfecta antes de que volvamos a estar juntos muy
pronto. Es un muy buen futbolista, con actitud ganadora. Me gusta mucho su
mentalidad. Encaja perfectamente con nuestro vestuario".
“Ha
sido muy importante en el éxito que ha tenido el Olympiacos para ganar su
título esta temporada y en la buena labor que tuvieron en su campaña europea
(cayeron en octavos de final contra el Wolverhampton)".
Por su parte, el
propio Tsimikas aseguró a la web del club inglés: "Estoy muy feliz, muy
orgulloso de estar aquí. Para mí, es el club más grande del mundo. Es un honor
estar aquí y daré lo mejor de mí. La liga aquí, me gusta mucho. Lo veo en la
televisión y siempre fue un sueño que tuve desde que era un niño: venir a jugar
a esta liga y salir adelante".
