El club de Lisboa promete gastarse hasta 200M€ en fichajes para volver a ganar. Jorge Jesus quiere a Cavani como su gran estrella.
EI mensaje de Jorge Jesus en su llegada fue muy claro: "¡Vamos a arrasar!". El entrenador portugués, de 66 años, fue presentado en Lisboa como un verdadero mesías. Con él el Benfica vivió sus últimos momentos de excelencia, con un doblete, tres ligas y dos dolorosos subcampeonatos de Europa League. Y tras el éxito rotundo de su paso por el fútbol brasileño en 2019, donde conquistó la liga, Copa Libertadores y Recopa Sudamericana, Jesus regresó a casa con la misión de rescatar a su equipo de toda la vida de una crisis profunda.
"Sólo me fui del Flamengo porque fue el Benfica quien me llamó. No he venido a ganar más dinero. He venido porque el presidente me ha convencido que el proyecto que podemos llevar a cabo puede hacer que el Benfica vuelva a ser grande y que pueda recuperar el prestigio internacional que este club tuvo durante tantos años".
Para eso, el presidente Luis Felipe Vieira le prometió millones para invertir en fichajes. Y Jesus ya ha identificado su gran objetivo: Cavani. Según la prensa portuguesa y uruguaya, el Benfica le ha ofrecido tres años de contrato y ocho millones al delantero, que está sin equipo desde que acabó contrato este verano con el PSG. Jorge Jesus le quiere como la gran estrella de su nuevo proyecto, que ya ha atado a dos jóvenes brasileños.
El primero es Pedrinho, extremo del Corinthians, de 22 años, fichado por 20M€. El segundo es Éverton Cebolinha, internacional brasileño, de 24 años, que fue elegido el mejor futbolista de la pasada Copa América con la canarinha. Las negociaciones entre Benfica y Grêmio están muy avanzadas y el extremo debe llegar por unos 25M€.
Otro objetivo de Jorge Jesus es llevarse a Lisboa a dos de los que fueron sus grandes estrellas en su año glorioso con el Flamengo, el mediapunta Bruno Henrique y el centrocampista Gerson. El primero el exfutbolista del Wolfsburgo, de 29 años, fue elegido mejor jugador del Brasileirão de 2019 y tiene una cláusula de 35M€. Ya el excentrocampista de la Roma, de 23, cuesta más caro: 60M€. Y el rubronegro no está dispuesto a bajar un céntimo de este valor porque el nuevo entrenador, Domènec Torrent, les ve como piezas clave para su proyecto.
Reforzar la defensa también es prioridad para Jesus, que ya tiene avanzadas tres negociaciones. Gilberto, lateral del Fluminense, llegará por 6M€. Leandro Cabrera, del Espanyol, debe costar de 10 a 15M€. Robin Koch, del Friburgo, puede llegar a Lisboa junto a su compañero, el delantero Luca Waldschmidt, por 25M€.
