El Fulham de
Scott Parker logró el ansiado ascenso a la Premier League de cara a la próxima
temporada después de vencer en la prórroga al Brentford con un doblete de Joe
Bryan que se erigió como el gran protagonista de la noche. El futbolista inglés,
que actua en el lateral izquierdo, fulminó al guardameta barcelonés David Raya
en dos ocasiones, primero con un lanzamiento magistral de falta en el minuto
105’ y el definitivo en el 117’ con una finalización al más puro estilo
delantero centro. Dos tantos en el duelo por el ascenso tras un partido intenso
y parejo entre dos equipos que no reservaron fuerzas, y que todo se decidió en
una prórroga fatídica para el Brentford.
Pese a que el
Brentford apretó hasta el último instante del partido con continuas acciones en
ataque e incluso recortó distancias sobre la bocina con el gol de Henrik
Dalsgaard en el 124’, el Fulham amarró el resultado (1-2) con uñas y dientes
para certificar el ascenso a la máxima categoría de Inglaterra solo un año
después de descender a la Championship. El Brentford deberá esperar un año más
tras quedarse a las puertas de la gloria.
El Fulham pudo
saborear el triunfo del ascenso levantando el trofeo que le certifica como
nuevo equipo de la Premier League para la temporada 2020-2021. Además, el
premio del ascenso le asegura 175 millones de euros para los próximos tres
años.
