Emerick-Aubameyang sólo ha jugado dos partidos en esta edición de la FA Cup: la
semifinal y la final. En la semifinal marcó los dos goles que eliminaron al
Manchester City y en la final, su doblete remontó al Chelsea y dio al Arsenal
su 14º título copero, el equipo más laureado de Inglaterra en la competición
más antigua del mundo… y el primer trofeo para Mikel Arteta como entrenador.
Pero los logros
no acaban ahí. Con la victoria, y a pesar de su 8º puesto en la Premier League,
el Arsenal se clasifica para la próxima edición de la Europa League. Los
‘gunners’ volverán a estar en la segunda competición europea, la mayor arma que
tienen para convencer a Aubameyang de que siga siendo el estandarte de su
proyecto. El delantero gabonés, que ha metido 29 goles, siempre ha estado
vinculado a otros clubes que juegan la Champions.
El Chelsea se
adelantó tras un inicio muy positivo. En una combinación dentro del área,
Giroud asistió de tacón de maravilla. El delantero francés ha sido clave desde
la vuelta de la competición, incluso sentando en el banquillo a Tammy Abraham
(17 goles), y vio la asistencia perfecta para que Pulisic, con un toque extra,
marcara el 1-0 en la final.
La reacción no se
hizo esperar y los de Arteta comenzaron a encontrar a su tridente ofensivo.
Primero, Pepé mandó un balón a la escuadra pero el gol fue anulado por fuera de
juego. Poco más tarde, llegó la jugada del empate, tras un penalti que provocó
Aubameyang y que él mismo se encargó de transformar con su primer gol de la
tarde.
No ayudó al
Chelsea la lesión de Azpilicueta, que se tuvo que ir retirado en el primer
tiempo por una lesión. Tampoco la rigurosa expulsión de Kovacic tras el
descanso, ni siquiera la lesión de Pedro en el descuento. En la portería, el
elegido por Lampard fue Willy Caballero. A pesar de que el argentino ha sido el
guardameta habitual en la FA Cup, había probabilidades de que Kepa recuperase
su puesto en una final… y no fue así. Su futuro en el club sigue siendo una
incógnita este verano.
Ya en la segunda
mitad, el Arsenal vio la luz gracias a su líder, a su capitán en Wembley. En un
gran contragolpe organizado por Bellerín, el balón terminó en los pies
Aubameyang, que mandó a pasear a Zouma con un quiebro delicioso y picó el balón
por encima de Caballero.
Con la conquista
de la FA Cup, el Arsenal se enfrentará al Liverpool, campeón de la Premier, por
el trofeo de la Community Shield, el sábado 29 de agosto en Wembley.
