
El
expresidente de la FIFA cree que el Comité de Ética “tiene que abrir un caso”
contra su sucesor debido al proceso criminal en su contra.
Joseph Blatter,
ex presidente de la FIFA, pide que su sucesor, Gianni Infantino, sea suspendido
por el organismo rector del fútbol mundial tras la apertura de un proceso
criminal en su contra en Suiza.
La autoridades
helvéticas anunciaron el jueves la apertura de un proceso penal contra
Infantino por parte de un fiscal especial que investiga sus encuentros con el
que fue fiscal general suizo, Michael Lauber.
“Para
mí, la situación está clara. El Comité de Ética de la FIFA tiene que abrir un
caso contra el señor Infantino y suspenderle”, dijo Blatter, de 84 años, en un
comunicado enviado a la agencia Reuters.
El Comité de
Ética norevela si investiga a Infantino
El Comité de
Ética de la FIFA, a través de un comunicado enviado por correo electrónico a
Reuters, no revela si Infantino, quien fue elegido en 2016, será sometido una
investigación interna.
“Tenga
en cuenta que, como política general, el Comité de Ética no hace comentarios
sobre posibles procedimientos en curso ni sobre si se están llevando a cabo
investigaciones sobre supuestos casos”, acalaró. “Como de costumbre, cualquier
información que el Comité de Ética quiera compartir será comunicada de acuerdo
con sus indicaciones”.
Blatter sí fue
inhabilitado
El mismo Blatter,
quien presidió la FIFA durante 17 años, fue suspendido y más tarde inhabilitado
por el Comité de Ética tras ser sometido a un proceso criminal en Suiza en
2015.
La investigación
sigue en marcha y Blatter, que niega haber cometido irregularidades, no ha sido
acusado aún. El caso se centra en un pago de dos millones de francos suizos
(2,2 millones de dólares) realizado en 2011 al entonces presidente de la UEFA,
Michel Platini, con la aprobación de Blatter, por trabajos realizados una
década antes.
Blatter fue
inhabilitado durante ocho años, reducidos a seis tras una apelación, y Platini
recibió el mismo castigo, reducido a cuatro. Platini también niega
irregularidades.
