El Newcastle
ha visto cómo el consorcio de empresas de Arabia Saudí ha decidido retirarse de
la puja para hacerse con el mítico conjunto inglés.
La compra del
club inglés por parte de un consorcio vinculado a Arabia Saudí parecía cosa
hecha, pero finalmente todo se ha torcido. Hace unos días explicábamos en Goal
las diez claves de un proyecto que ha caído en saco roto.
De este modo y
como informa Sky Sports, el Fondo de Inversión Pública de Arabia Saudita, PCP
Capital Partners y Reuben Brothers se han retirado del proceso para comprar
Newcastle.
Así lo han
manifestado señalando que "con un profundo aprecio por la comunidad de
aficionados del Newcastle y la importancia de su club de fútbol, hemos tomado
la decisión de retirar nuestro interés en adquirir el Newcastle United Football
Club".
Añaden que
“sentimos una gran compasión por los aficionados del Newcastle United con
quienes compartimos un gran compromiso para ayudarles. Nos gustaría decir que
realmente apreciamos sus increíbles expresiones de apoyo y su paciencia durante
todo este proceso. Lamentamos que no sea así.
Se hablaba de una
inversión de 350 millones de euros para hacerse con el 80% del club y se
pusieron muchos grandes nombres sobre la mesa en lo que podía ser un proyecto
faraónico (Sarri, Benítez, Edinson Cavani, Arturo Vidal, Coutinho , Koulibaly,
o Fekir, pero como confirmaron, se han retirado de la operación: "Lo
hacemos con pesar, ya que estábamos entusiasmados y totalmente comprometidos a
invertir en la gran ciudad de Newcastle y creemos que podríamos haber devuelto
al club a la posición de su historia, tradición y mérito de los
fanáticos".
"Desafortunadamente,
el proceso prolongado en las circunstancias actuales junto con la incertidumbre
global ha hecho que la inversión potencial ya no sea comercialmente
viable".
