La sanción,
finalmente revocada, de excluir al Manchester City de las competiciones
europeas durante dos años sigue dando que hablar. El diario alemán Der Spiegel
sostiene que posee nuevas pruebas que demuestran que el veredicto del Tribunal
de Arbitraje del Deporte (TAS) fue incorrecto. El club inglés niega
enérgicamente estas revelaciones asegurando que son un “intento cínico de
volver a litigar públicamente”.
Tras la sanción
impuesta por la UEFA en febrero, el TAS aceptó el recurso del City y el pasado
13 de julio levantó el castigo al considerar que no estaba probado que sus
propietarios de Abu Dhabi inflaran los acuerdos de patrocinio para cumplir con
los requisitos de la normativo del Fair Play Financiero, tal como denunció Der
Spiegel al publicar siete correos electrónicos filtrados y revelados por
Football Leaks que mostraban que el club disfrazó la inversión del propietario
como pagos de los patrocinadores.
El TAS consideró
que los siete correos electrónicos habían sido sacados de contexto, pero ahora
Der Spiegel sostiene que dispone de una nueva serie de e-mails que prueban no
solo la responsabilidad del City en desafiar el Fair Play Financiero, sino que
mintió al TAS durante la audiencia en que expuso los argumentos de su recurso.
El diario alemán
no especifica los detalles contenidos en los correos electrónicos, pero
mantiene que el City cometió irregularidades con respecto a sus acuerdos
financieros.

El City, a través
de un comunicado difundido hoy, sigue negando firmemente las acusaciones al
considerar que son parte de un “claro y organizado” ataque a la reputación del
club.
“Las
cuestiones y asuntos planteados por Der Spiegel parecen ser un intento cínico
de volver a litigar públicamente y socavar un caso que ha sido completamente
juzgado, tras procedimientos detallados y el debido proceso, por el Tribunal de
Arbitraje Deportivo”, añade el City en su comunicado.

Y concluye: “La
política de Manchester City sigue siendo no realizar comentarios acerca de
materiales fuera de contexto que supuestamente se obtuvieron criminalmente del
City Football Group y del personal de Manchester City”.
