Así se desprende del apoyo que ha solicitado este viernes a los miembros del Directorio de la FEF para dirigir en persona la desvinculación del entrenador de la selección nacional ecuatoriana, quien ya el jueves le comunicó desde España que se estaba replanteando su continuidad.
"Ha solicitado la autorización de los seis miembros que estamos en desacuerdo con su accionar (de Egas) en la FEF. Participaremos de la sesión de Directorio del próximo martes, lo escucharemos y veremos qué se decide", confirmó el directivo Carlos Galarza.
Galarza es uno de los directivos que removieron en abril pasado a Egas de la presidencia de la FEF, en una moción de censura que no ha sido reconocida por los organismos internacionales del fútbol referentes en la región.
La moción estuvo relacionada con el proceso y montos de la contratación de Cruyff como entrenador, y del director deportivo, Antonio Cordón, que dimitió el martes a raíz de la crisis institucional y financiera que sacude a la institución en los últimos tres meses.
Ambos habían sido contratados por Egas hace unos siete meses para encabezar un proyecto nacional a largo plazo, pero el coronavirus, los consecuentes problemas financieros en la FEF y las interminables intrigas internas, pusieron en entredicho la viabilidad de todo el proyecto.
Cruyff, que debía haber regresado el jueves para retomar el proyecto in situ, informó a Egas por teléfono que permanecía en España y le pidió unos días para repensar la situación, lo que "molestó" al máximo directivo.
Y adelantándose a una más que probable dimisión del hispano-holandés, Egas ha decidido iniciar la desvinculación y buscar a un entrenador de cara a las eliminatorias sudamericanas, en principio previstas para octubre.
Ello después de que sus oponentes en el Directorio, entre ellos Jaime Estrada, su vicepresidente y líder del grupo rebelde, le exigieran este mismo viernes gestionar por sí mismos el contrato de Cruyff.
"Deje al Directorio tomar a su cargo la situación, que desde el inicio no tuvo claridad", escribió Estrada por las redes sociales.
La desvinculación por iniciativa de Egas puede tratarse de una táctica de este último para estabilizar la situación en la FEF y obtener el respaldo a su gestión del grupo disidente, dado que la marcha voluntaria de Cruyff hubiera asestado un duro golpe de imagen a su proyecto y a su cuestionada gestión.
"Es una situación muy complicada la de la Federación", consideró el directivo de Liga de Quito, Esteban Paz, en un análisis de los más recientes acontecimientos que hizo para un medio local.
