salvación del Werder Bremen.
No llegó a jugar
ni un minuto, pero el lunes tuvo lugar la despedida de un símbolo del fútbol
peruano y de Latinoamérica, Claudio Pizarro, que se retiró a los 41 años. El
Bombardero de los Andes. Al final sus compañeros del Werder Bremen, el último
equipo de su dilatada carrera y cuya camiseta defendió en 4 etapas, le
mantearon en plena celebración de que el histórico club alemán seguirá en la
Bundesliga tras el 2-2 ante el Heindenheim en la vuelta de la promoción (0-0 en
la ida).

490 partidos jugados en la Bundesliga le contemplan, 197 goles marcados en el
campeonato alemán, en el que defendió las camisetas de Bayern, Werder Bremen y
Colonia. En su palmarés, una Champions, 6 Bundesligas, 6 Copas de Alemania, un
Mundial de Clubs, una Supercopa de Europa, una Copa Intercontinental. El

Menos una de las
Copas de Alemania, conquistada con el Werder Bremen, sus demás títulos en dicho
país fueron con el Bayern. Pero, aunque la gloria fue con los muniqueses,
permanecerá siempre ligado al conjunto de Bremen, desde el que dio el salto a
Europa procedente del Alianza de Lima y cuya camiseta defendió nada menos que en
4 etapas (1990-2001, 2008-2012, 2015-17 y 2018-20).
Pizarro se va con
varios récords vigentes en la Bundesliga: mayor número de partidos disputados
por un jugador extranjero (490), jugador más veterano en marcar (40 años y 227
días), jugador más veterano en lograr un ‘hat trick’ (40 años y 151 días),
máximo goleador de la historia del Werder Bremen (152 en este caso en todas las
competición, 109 en Bundesliga). Es el segundo máximo realizador extranjero en
Bundesliga (195), el primero hasta que le arrebató el récord Robert Lewandowski
(que lleva 236).
Con la selección
peruana Claudio Pizarro jugó 80 encuentros y marcó 20 tantos. Fue suspendido 18
meses por supuestamente junto a otros internacionales haber dado entrada a la
concentración de Perú a varias mujeres, junto a otros jugadores como Jefferson
Farfán, y bebido alcohol dos días antes de un partido contra Ecuador, la
sanción quedó en 3, pero el Tribunal de Arbitraje para el Deporte (TAS) ordenó
la retirada de una multa de la Federación de Fútbol de Perú al delantero por
considerar que no había evidencias. El atacante lo consideró un gran éxito.
