del Real Madrid y actualmente en el Palmeiras se encuentra en cuarentena en su
domicilio. Recientemente fue operado de la vesícula.
El brasileño
Vanderlei Luxemburgo, extécnico del Real Madrid y actual entrenador del
Palmeiras, anunció este sábado que dio positivo por el nuevo coronavirus, pero
afirmó que está "tranquilo" porque no presenta ningún síntoma.
"Mi test dio
positivo para COVID-19. Ya estoy en cuarentena, en casa, castigado",
señaló con ironía en sus redes sociales el exseleccionador brasileño, quien por
su edad, 68 años, se enmarca dentro del grupo de riesgo.
Luxemburgo, que
ha sido apartado del equipo de Sao Paulo hasta que se recupere y fue operado
recientemente de la vesícula, dijo que es "asintomático" y que, por
el momento, "no siente absolutamente nada".
"Estoy
tranquilo, sin ningún dolor, acompañado por los médicos del Palmeiras",
indicó para añadir después que "en breve" estará de vuelta para dirigir
a la plantilla.
Luxemburgo fue
sometido el pasado 25 de junio a una operación para la extracción de la
vesícula y fue dado de alta un día después.
A lo largo de
esta semana, el técnico estuvo presente en las instalaciones del Palmeiras,
pero solo en la víspera dirigió el primer entrenamiento con el equipo desde la
cirugía.
Brasil, con
64.265 fallecidos y casi 1,6 millones de casos confirmados, es el epicentro
latinoamericano de la COVID-19 y el segundo país con más muertes y contagios en
el mundo, después de Estados Unidos.
Luxemburgo volvió
al banquillo del Palmeiras en diciembre de 2019, pero su trabajo se ha visto
interrumpido por la pandemia, que desde marzo tiene paralizado el fútbol en el
país, salvo en algunas regiones, como en Río de Janeiro.
En su palmarés
cuenta con cinco títulos de Liga brasileña ganados con Palmeiras (1993 y 1994)
Corinthians (1998), Cruzeiro (2003) y Santos (2004). También ganó como
seleccionador de Brasil la Copa América de Paraguay 1999.
En 2005 dirigió
al Real Madrid, pero antes de terminar ese año fue destituido.
Posteriormente,
siguió su carrera como entrenador en Brasil, aunque entre 2015 y 2016 probó
suerte en el Tianjin Tianhai de China.
