Pese a la
vuelta del confinamiento en algunos distritos por nuevos brotes de coronavirus,
el organismo anunció que no ve necesario un ‘plan B’.
La UEFA anunció
este martes que está totalmente comprometida con organizar la fase final de la
Champions en Lisboa en agosto a pesar de que varios distritos de la ciudad
vuelven desde este miércoles al confinamiento debido a los nuevos brotes de
coronavirus.

Ceferin, presidente de la UEFA, dijo que no ve “ninguna necesidad de un plan B”
después de tratar el tema con el primer ministro de Portugal, Antonio Costa,
aunque el organismo que rige el fútbol europeo reconoce que organizar el torneo
representa “grandes desafíos”.
“Durante
la reunión, todas las partes subrayaron que están totalmente comprometidas a
trabajar juntas de manera colaborativa para realizar un evento exitoso en
Lisboa”, dijo la UEFA en un comunicado.
“Los
participantes discutieron el hecho de que este es un torneo sin precedentes que
presenta grandes desafíos, pero reforzaron su creencia de que las condiciones
necesarias estarán presentes en Portugal”.
El jueves pasado,
el Gobierno de Portugal dijo que las personas que viven en las áreas afectadas
de la capital (19 parroquias sin incluir el centro de Lisboa) podrían salir de
casa solo para comprar bienes esenciales o para viajar hacia y desde el
trabajo. La medida estará vigente del 1 al 14 de julio y luego será revisada.
La final a ocho
dará comienzo el 12 de agosto y finalizará el 23. “Compartí una actualización
completa sobre la situación de COVID-19 en nuestro país y agregué que se están
tomando todas las medidas para garantizar que este torneo se celebre de manera
segura”, dijo Costa. Ceferin dijo que confía en que “concluiremos la temporada
de manera positiva en Lisboa, no hay necesidad de un plan B”.
Paris
Saint-Germain (PSG), Atlético, Atalanta y Leipzig ya se han clasificado para
esta final a ocho. Los cuatro últimos partidos de vuelta de octavos de final
que aún deben jugarse y de los que saldrán los otros cuatro participantes son
Barcelona-Nápoles, Manchester City-Real Madrid, Bayern-Chelsea y Juventus-Lyon.
Se disputarán el 7 y 8 de agosto, ya sea en los estadios originalmente
programados o en Portugal.
