
El técnico del
Liverpool publicó una carta en el periódico local lamentando las celebraciones
en la ciudad. "No podemos desperdiciar los esfuerzos que hemos hecho".
Que Jürgen Klopp
derrocha carisma y personalidad es algo que quedó demostrado hace bastantes
años. El técnico alemán es una figura que va más allá de su papel en los
banquillos. Si Klopp habla, el mundo escucha. Y si Klopp se pone serio y
regaña, los aficionados saben que han cometido un error. O, como mínimo, que
han quedado señalados.
Después de las
celebraciones multitudinarias en el centro de la ciudad con motivo del título
liguero del Liverpool –celebraciones que provocaron detenciones y hasta un
pequeño incendio– la decisión de Klopp ha sido regañar a su hinchada. No sólo
porque lo hicieran mal, sino porque desobedecieron: "Espero que os quedéis
en casa, como mucho salid a la puerta y celebrad. En el futuro estaremos juntos
para celebrarlo de la manera adecuada", avisó en televisión la misma noche
de la consecución de la Premier.
Este lunes, sin
embargo, Klopp publicó una carta en el Liverpool Echo, el periódico local más
importante, para mostrar su felicidad por el título, para expresar su
agradecimiento por el apoyo durante tantos meses… y para recordar que "no
podemos desperdiciar todos los esfuerzos que hemos hecho para pelear contra el
COVID-19", en referencia a los altercados producidos en el Pier Head la
semana pasada.
"Amo vuestra
pasión, vuestras canciones, vuestro rechazo a aceptar la derrota, vuestro
compromiso y vuestra fe. Incluso cuando no estáis, amo cómo os aseguráis de que
The Kop luzca como The Kop aunque no suene como siempre. Pero no amo, y tengo
que decirlo, lo que pasó el viernes. Soy un ser humano y vuestra pasión es mi
pasión, pero ahora no podemos tener estas reuniones públicas. Se lo debemos a
los más vulnerables", señalaba Klopp, consciente de que Liverpool ha sido
una de las ciudades de Inglaterra más afectadas por la pandemia del
coronavirus.
También aprovechó
para definir al Liverpool mediante dos de sus más importantes leyendas. Por un
lado, dijo que Kenny Dalglish "es el alma por su entendimiento del club y
de lo que significa para la gente" y Steven Gerrard "son las piernas
porque nadie se merece este título más que él". Palabra de Klopp.
