Darwin Núñez vive un gran momento en Almería. El delantero de 20 años, uno de
los fichajes más caros de la historia del conjunto andaluz, marcó en el empate
ante el Albacete en la reanudación de la competición en España y firmó su gol
número 13 en LaLiga Smartbank. El ex Peñarol ha caído de pie en el fútbol
español y se pone a la altura de grandes figuras de la selección uruguaya como
Luis Suárez, Edinson Cavani o Christian Stuani, actual máximo goleador de
Segunda División con 23 goles.
Núñez no comenzó
fino el partido contra el Albacete, pero fue de menos a más y justo en el final
del partido, en el momento que más le necesitaba su equipo, provocó un penalti
que salvó un punto que mantiene al conjunto dirigido por Guti en la pelea por
el ascenso directo a Primera División.
El uruguayo fichó
por el Almería en agosto de 2019 y aunque no tuvo un inicio fácil consiguió
adaptarse al equipo y al ritmo de la competición y en su tercer partido con la
camiseta almeriense (victoria 3-2 vs. Extremadura), consiguió estrenarse como
goleador de los andaluces. Con la llegada de Guti al banquillo, el delantero
uruguayo fue adquiriendo más protagonismo y poco a poco se ha convertido en una
de las piezas clave del Almería en su camino hacia el ascenso. Ha marcado ya 3
dobletes con los rojiblancos (vs. Lugo, Oviedo y Deportivo) y ha demostrado que
el parón debido a la pandemia de coronavirus no le ha afectado en absoluto.

Núñez acumula 13
goles en 21 partidos, tan sólo uno por detrás del máximo goleador de la
selección uruguaya, Luis Suárez, pero su ratio goleador es mejor que el de su
compatriota. El jugador del Barça ha marcado 14 tantos en 23 encuentros en
todas las competiciones esta temporada.
El jugador del
Almería supera con creces la campaña de otro de los grandes referentes de
Uruguay, Edinson Cavani, al que las lesiones le han lastrado y sólo ha podido
marcar 7 goles en 22 partidos, una cifra muy por debajo de lo habitual.
Darwin debutó con
La Celeste en octubre de 2019 en un amistoso contra Perú. El joven delantero de
20 años deslumbró a todos con su talento y frescura dentro del campo,
demostrando su capacidad goleadora anotando a los cinco minutos de salir al
terreno de juego. El jugador surgido en Peñarol tiene como grandes ídolos a
Luis Suárez y Cavani, del que muchos ya dicen que será su sucesor en la
selección dirigida por Tabárez. Todavía le queda mucho por recorrer, pero sin
duda Darwin Núñez tiene potencial de sobra para ser uno de los pilares de la
Uruguay de lfuturo junto a Brian Rodríguez y Matías Viña.

Pero Darwin Núñez
no es el único uruguayo que la está rompiendo en Segunda División. El máximo
goleador de competición es Cristhian Stuani con 23 goles en 27 partidos.
Además, es el futbolista de origen uruguayo con mejor registro goleador esta
temporada en Europa.
El delantero de
33 años está viviendo una segunda juventud en el Girona, donde ha mostrado
siempre un gran nivel desde su llegada a Montilivi en 2017.
El jugador
formado en las filas de Danubio es otro de los habituales en las convocatorias
de Tabárez, aunque siempre con un papel más secundario. El actual pichichi de
LaLiga Smartbank tendrá con Darwin Núñez una dura competición por un puesto en
la selección uruguaya.
