El equipo de
Lukas Kwasniok está protagonizando una gran hazaña en la Copa alemana y este
martes luchará por la final. El Saarbrücken dejó fuera del torneo al Colonia y
al Fortuna Düsselforf.
El Saarbrücken,
de la Cuarta División de Alemania (ahora ya ascendido a Tercera), ya logró la
gesta de alcanzar las semifinales de Copa, pero este martes sueña con llevar su
hazaña aún más lejos: se enfrenta al Bayer Leverkusen en dicha ronda y será el
primer encuentro que este modesto equipo juega en 94 días debido al parón de
las competiciones por la pandemia del coronavirus. Se trata del primer equipo
fuera de las tres máximas categorías del fútbol alemán que logra llegar a unas
semifinales coperas.
Este martes
arrancan las ‘semis’ con este Saarbrücken-Bayer Leverkusen y el miércoles,
Bayern-Eintracht Frankfurt. Llegan para el Saarbrücken, como decimos, tras 94
días sin jugar, ya que, si bien la Bundesliga se reanudó el 16 de mayo, la
Regionalliga Sudwest (Cuarta) fue dada por acabada y el Saarbrücken, líder con
6 puntos de ventaja, proclamado campeón y ascendido a Tercera.
Mientras el Bayer
Leverkusen ya ha disputado 5 partidos antes de la semifinal, el Saarbrücken
ninguno, ni siquiera un amistoso. Kianz Froese, que ha dado las asistencias de
4 de los 7 goles de su equipo en esta Copa, manifestó que “todo es una
incógnita para nosotros, ya veremos sobre la marcha”.
Ha sido una
aventura increíble la trayectoria del Saarbrücken hasta esta semifinal, con 2
victorias por 3-2 en el último minuto (en ambos casos el tanto con asistencia
de Froese), seguidas de 2 tandas de penaltis. Ya ha vivido 4 celebraciones de
locura. “Nos sentimos muy felices de formar parte de este capítulo de la
historia del club y de nuestras carreras. Y ahora estamos ante el partido más importante
de su historia. Es bonito lograr cosas que nadie espera. Nuestra mentalidad
será que todo resulta posible. Tenemos una oportunidad”, dijo Froese a la BBC.
Daniel Batz, su
portero, ha parado 4 penaltis en el camino a las semifinales, en el que el
Saarbrücken ha eliminado a 2 equipos de Bundesliga y 2 de Segunda. En agosto,
dejó fuera al Jahn Regensburg (Segunda) con un 2-1. En dieciseisavos, 3-2 al
Colonia. En octavos eliminó al Karlsruher (Segunda) por penaltis, al igual que
al Fortuna Düsseldorf en cuartos.
Lukas Kwasniok,
entrenador del Saarbrücken, sólo lleva 5 partidos al frente del equipo, tras la
destitución de Dirk Lottner en diciembre.
No contará el
Saarbrücken con el apoyo de sus aficionados en el Hermann-Neuberger-Stadion (en
el que caben 6.800 espectadores), lo que considera es una ventaja para el
Leverkusen. El conjunto de Kwasnik no ha ganado nunca un gran título, pero fue
2 veces subcampeón alemán (en 1943 y 1952). Y fue primero de la Segunda de
Francia tras la Segunda Guerra Mundial (pero no fue dado como campeón). Ha
jugado 5 temporadas en la Bundesliga (la última en 1993). Sueña con volver y
también con alcanzar la final copera del 4 de julio en el Olympiastadion de
Berlín.
