
El TAS estudia
desde hoy el recurso del club inglés a la sanción de dos temporadas fuera de
Europa que le impuso la UEFA por haber violado el Fair Play Financiero de 2012
a 2016.

City comienza hoy su partido más importante de la temporada. Será sin público,
pero también sin balón. En la sede suiza del TAS (Tribunal de Arbitraje del
Deporte), los citizens van a defender su recurso al castigo de la UEFA de dos
años sin poder participar en competiciones europeas por incumplir el 'fair
play' financiero en los balances de 2012 al 2016 y por "no cooperar con la
investigación". Después de haber agotado todas las instancias dentro del
máximo organismo europeo, es la última vía que le queda.
La respuesta del
City a la sanción fue dura. En un comunicado, Ferrán Soriano, CEO del City
Football Group, aseguró que "las alegaciones son falsas" y que lo
demostrarán con "evidencias irrefutables" para defender el caso.
El club de
Manchester ha puesto en marcha todo un arsenal defensivo contra las acusaciones
de supuestas inyecciones de capital hechas de manera ilegal, ya que se mentía
en las cantidades generadas por contratos de publicidad, con valores de 10
veces por encima del mercado, gracias al músculo económico que ha aportado el
Gobierno de Abu Dhabi, con Sheikh Mansour al frente.

Ceferin, presidente de la UEFA, lleva meses diciendo que nadie puede saltarse
las normas y esta decisión puede ser un gran punto de inflexión en el panorama
futbolístico. La vista durará tres días. Si el Manchester City no logra
defenderse con éxito, dejará de jugar dos temporadas en la Champions y perderá
más de 200M€ en ingresos. La decisión final está prevista para varias semanas
después, siempre antes de que retorne la competición en agosto.
Tanto el City
como la propia UEFA han pedido al TAS que no comunique quiénes serán los jueces
de este arbitraje, debido al impacto mediático del caso y a lo que puede
suponer en el futuro del fútbol.
Las consecuencias
pueden ser devastadoras. A pesar de la situación, Guardiola ha confirmado que
no se moverá del City la próxima temporada (su último año de contrato), incluso
si hay sanción de por medio. Pero esto puede complicar el futuro de futbolistas
clave en la plantilla, como es el caso de De Bruyne.
Si se confirma la
sanción, el quinto clasificado de la Premier irá a la Champions.
