El fallecimiento
de George Floyd ha provocado una revolución social en Estados Unidos contra el
racismo, un movimiento que ha tenido numerosos apoyos en el resto del mundo,
incluido el propio fútbol.
Varios jugadores
de la Bundesliga celebraron sus goles exhibiendo el pasado fin de semana
camisetas de apoyo a Floyd, fallecido en Mineapolis como consecuencia del abuso
policial. El Liverpool también quiso rendir tributo al afroamericano de 46 años
compartiendo en sus redes sociales una instantánea de la plantilla arrodillada
como protesta bajo el lema #BlackLivesMatter, impulsado en su día por Colin
Kaepernick, otrora quarterback de los San Francisco 46ers e icono de la lucha
contra el racismo.

Este martes, la
plantilla del Chelsea se ha sumado al movimiento y ha colgado en sus redes una
foto de la plantilla hincando la rodilla al suelo como reivindicación a todo lo
sucedido y a las injusticias raciales que desgraciadamente todavía se producen
a lo largo y ancho del planeta. Los jugadores e integrantes del cuerpo técnico
han formado una ‘H’ en referencia a humanidad.
Mientras, las
protestas en Estados Unidos han provocado que Donald Trump haya echado mano del
ejercito para intentar restablecer el orden tras los altercados que vienen
repitiéndose estos días en varias ciudades americanas.
“Queremos
usar nuestra posición para expresar que estamos viviendo en un mundo donde
tenemos que tratar de mejorarlo para el futuro, para ser un mundo mejor con más
amor, sin odio”, explicó César Azpilicueta en un comunicado del club.
“Hemos
visto recientemente el resultado del racismo y vemos todos los días que ese
tipo de odio debe ser erradicado de la sociedad, y tenemos que desempeñar
nuestro papel”.
“Todos
los días existe la posibilidad de liderar con el ejemplo, comportarse, educar a
los niños en un mundo mejor porque sabemos que la educación es clave para el
futuro”.
“Sabemos
que la generación joven viene detrás de nosotros y queremos dejarlos en un
mundo mejor con más posibilidades sin ningún tipo de discriminación o racismo,
así que todo importa y es hora de hablar y enfrentar las actitudes que tenemos
están viendo. No hay lugar para todo esto”.
“El
Chelsea es un club que lidera con el ejemplo, siempre a la vanguardia en la
lucha contra el racismo y todo tipo de discriminación”, agregó Azpilicueta.
“Estamos
muy orgullosos de ser parte de Chelsea y de tomar medidas cuando participamos
en cualquier campaña. Deseamos intentar ayudar de la manera que podamos. Es
