La Premier League regresará a la actividad en apenas tres semanas, el 17 de junio, después de que se haya hecho oficial en la tarde de este jueves. Ese día, que cae en miércoles, se jugarían en principio el Manchester City - Arsenal y el Aston Villa - Sheffield United, que cuentan con una jornada menos disputada que el resto de equipos, por lo que la intención de la competición es equilibrar la balanza para facilitar la organización a partir del fin de semana.
De esta forma los jugadores y entrenadores consiguen sus cuatro, casi cinco, semanas de preparación de cara a la vuelta, tiempo más que suficiente para volver a ponerse a tono teniendo en cuenta que ya pueden llevar a cabo entrenamientos completos de grupo. Eso sí, esto no quiere decir que puedan surgir retrasos o complicaciones en forma de lesiones e incluso de contagios, por mucho que la Premier esté intentando dar toda la seguridad posible con sus protocolos, pruebas prácticamente cada tres días y tecnología de rastreo.
A pesar de que la mayoría de los clubes ya han vuelto a los entrenamientos completos tras la tercera ronda de pruebas -en la que apenas se registraron cuatro positivos en 1.008 test-, algunas entidades han manifestado su voluntad de esperar hasta llegar a la quinta antes de volver a la normalidad en sus entrenamientos, lo que puede lastrarles de cara al regreso pero al mismo tiempo proporciona seguridad a sus jugadores.
Tras más de tres meses de parón desde que la competición se detuvo el pasado 13 de marzo, la Premier será una de las últimas grandes ligas en regresar a la actividad, pues La Liga, y sobre todo la Bundesliga, ya lo habrán hecho. La Serie A, por su parte, sigue pendiente de definir su fecha definitiva, aunque todo apunta a que será similar a la de Inglaterra.
En un momento, sin embargo, se llegó a poner sobre la mesa la posibilidad de regresar el próximo día 12, pero la sensación de premura y de precipitación jugaba en contra de una Premier que quiere tener tranquilos a sus jugadores de cara al retorno, por lo que finalmente se ha decidido retrasar una semana más el reestreno del último tercio de la liga más mediática del planeta.
